Pathman, that link is super-duper interesting, but it's long. Damn, man, I have a 2 yr. old. The only time I read that much is at about 2 AM, if I'm lucky enough not to crash out completely before that. So basically, I only do that in the 3-4 days before finals, once a semester. LOL!

Web surfer. That's legit right.
Ty Stalker. I'll have to relocate over that one, though.

NG, you consider Rilke EVIL?!?!?

Scratch literature professor from your list :)

Not evil as in Satanic, evil as in it was not an easy read. I had to work at his stuff. So I'm lazy, shoot me. LOL! I don't know about being a lit. prof., but I'm actually real well read Phaedrus. Seriously. (And I like to brag. LOL!)

That's what I meant. Rilke was some of easiest reading (everyone is different) to me in college. Certainly tons easier than reading dickens or chaucer. And the advice he gave in letters to a young poet is stuff that I have never found fault with.

People are different. I would have considered Dickens to be way easier. I guess as an 18 yr. old freshman in college, I thought Rilke was frickin' esoteric. Did I spell that right?

I think I'll learn to spell after I win.

I also think I'll use my winnings to educate the mentally challenged people of Kalifornia.

Well, after putzinf away about 5 years of my life after high school, I went into Video Production for a fewm then into educational Video for about five years or so. I kinda got sick of it, turning these young kids out on the world of media. I was starting to have a problem with the way media had/has been going, so I was looking fer something similar. Lucky break happened when I got fired from one job, was jobless for about 4 months, then landed my presetn job, Theater Director for the high school I graduated from. Funny how I gave this place the finger when I walked outta the doors after graduation (just BARLEY!) and I'm still giving them the finger, but for oither reasons......:)

If everythig took it's course, I would be a cameraman, TD, Engineer, at your local TV station, helping shovel the #&%!$ you see on the boob tube. I'm glad I didn't go that route.

Born to do? Or want to do? Or are suited to do? (OK, Nos. 1 and 3 are close......)

Long ago I wanted to get into interior decorating. HA!! Cannot even imagine that with my college-living style digs.

Wanted to be an archeologist. In reality, all the long digging for tiny shards might be booooooooring. But I do like to visit places and do this kinda stuff as a hobby. (Now if I could just get that retired teacher guy out to show me where the pictographs are that no one thinks we have around here!!)

As to what I want to do? Kinda there. I wanted to get into TV journalism. Was going on that track in college when a final production sucked so bad I didn't make the cut to take any more of the highly coveted TV track classes.

I could keep my same major, just focused more on radio. I worked in radio for 10 years out of high school, doing everything you can do. Found out what I liked and didn't like.

(oh yeah, photography started as a hobby out of college, then I decided to go further with it... now freelance some with landscapes, etc.)

Decided the expanding world of print journalism was for me, plus I wanted to learn computer layout, etc. And I had always liked to write (like this is gonna be long as hell..... GEOBEET, come edit me!!)

Got into it. Have been more in charge as a lifestyles editor... and now in the field more as a reporter/photographer. And CAN I BRAG HERE?? Both the paper and myself are up for at least three awards at the MN Newspaper Association contest this weekend in the Twin Cities. A couple are for General Excellence and General Reporting. Makes a person proud of putting forth a good product. :-)

Also, now I work at a motorcoach tour company, allowing me to plan trips and go on trips.

All in all, not bad! I write and take pictures, which I enjoy MOST OF THE TIME. Irregular hours, which I don't mind. Also, I get paid to learn about travel destinations and occasionally visit them.

Real dream?? To do some combination of what I'm doing now, but as a total (or, to a great majority) freelancer. Travel writing and photography.

Hmmmmmmmm... maybe I should take the nasty, hate'm, big bucks job to sock away some moola to do it?? lol

(Geobeet?? Editor?? Sorry for this LOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG listing..... lol)

HOLY EXPANDING SHRINKS BATMAN
Well - -

I am very please to see that I am not the only drooling babbling person on here. I was embarrassed to come back after my driveling on and on . . . .BUT YOU ALLHAVE DONE ME PROUD!

Wow.

In the aggregate . . .looking at all the confusion and questioning on this thread . . .there must be a lesson. Ther must be soemthing to take away.

100 years ago, 200 years ago this discussion never would have taken place. That "witch on the shoulder" that Twigeater refered to (sense of responbility, need to put food o the table) was ALL that matter. You worked all day, all week, all year, no vacation , no sick days, no concept of "fulfillment", or recreation, or "what was a i born to do"

We are pretty darn fortunate to have the luxury to navel gaze like this . . .but what is the lesson . . .

anyone ??

anyone????

Bobby McFerin????? Don't worry. Be Happy??

Timothy O Leary?? Tune in, turn on and drop out?

On the whole I am happy. A little more time in the woods, with less associate guilt would be great.

In my first rambling incoherent post said that my best option would be to just go see Pedxing for a consult.

Well shoot . . . with this crowd lined up . . .at least we have Pedxing's career figured out!!!!!

a was born to play ma strat to people who enjoy that style of music and to hike.....can't figure out to make money at those so i fix freezers in between. i was really inspired my a movie with randy or dennis(never can keep them straight) quade where he was a highschool baseball coach and they got him to try out for the minor leages(he was an ex-minor leaguer) and he made it all the way to the big leagues. i was at a point where i was getting discouraged with guitar and considering quitting. it made me push myself and go for what i really love. i have improoved 100% since then, and it's not cause of new material, it's because of passion, emotion, intensity. the moral of the story is...do what you love and do it like nobodies watchin.. and do it with passion.

I've been a secretary at a large aerospace company for almost 24 years and I love it! My boss is a director with 800+ people under him. I get benefits, over 5 wks vacation and I can retire in 9 years. My job allows me to live the Snow-and-Mountain lifestyle. I was born to play, and fortunate to find someone that enjoys it as much as I do. SnowDude is also happy with his career of 17 (or was it 19) years.

born to rock and roll~~~and dance and play :)
i cannot really remember questioning why i was born as all my contemporaries were doing back in the early hippie days........i thought it was simple......my parents did a little dancin in the moonlite and later on that year......out i popped ...and i saw them laughing and playing and loving....so i figured that is what i was supposed to do too...and so i did

i never thought much about having a a certain job, or driving a certain car or get married or have a kid or have a house.......those things all just happened...and i participated in all the experiences..the up ones and the down and bumpy ones..all as they came... and went....

i love my job now, i have been doing this sort of work so long that it is so easy... .i can relax and have fun with it and i love the kids i work with..we have a lot fun while doing good work....i love payday! and the bennies and time off, raised my son, kept him alive and well and now putting him thru college, my intention is to retire in 2005 when he graduates (knock on wood!) .and then i can go backpacking whenever i please! but...who knows how the universe will unfold before me...? may have to leave the planet before then, so....gotta dance and have dessert today!

i was born to live and laugh and experience and participate in the daily menu of creation, but most of all .... to love.......no matter what it is i am "doing"

its that passion/shakti/energy/force/love thing....gotta let it do the driving.....

whoa...that just flowed right on out....
now i lay me down to sleep!!today is tomorrow already...geez
