New York pizza is the best. Once you cross the George Washington Bridge into the midwest, the quality falls of 90%

When I first moved to CT after living in NJ I called up the local pizza shop and ordered a plain pizza delivered. Imagine my surprise when I opened up the box and realized it had no Mozarrela cheese. A plain pizza here just has sauce and parmesian cheese. After that first shocker this is now my favorite. Easy to make at camp with a Boboli or a Pita.
Just heat the sauce and wrap the boboli in aluminium foil and heat that on top of the sauce pan as a lid. Smear the sauce and sprinkle with dried parm cheese.

Cool, Artex, my fav. is also Hawaiian. Here in MT we have a local co. called, MacKenzie River Pizza Co. I love them the best. I also love this really low grade pizza from a co. in Wyoming called Pizza On The Run. Yummy. When I lived in Holland I ate tuna pizza. Strange, but good. Real good after a visit to a local coffee shop. Hehehe!

i concur, the best pizza i ever had was in NYC.

chain-wise, i have to admit i like Pizza Hut. in college, my friend and i would eat an entire New York Pizza (the fake kind, of course) from Pizza Hut...those things are freakin' huge. that was Thursday night...after the pizza, we'd go out and get wasted. Pack On the Calories Day, woo hoo!

I use to do the opposite Lyra. I'd get wasted and then we'd order a huge amount of pizza. Good way to top off the night.

next time you order a pizza have them omit the pizza sauce and replace it with garlic butter/sauce. Add you cheese then onions, mushrooms, bell peppers and black olives.

another good pizza is a bacon cheeseburger pizza, you use the normal base layer of cheese, then beef, bacon and top it off with cheddar cheese.

Cheese and onions, from papa john's. The shop is two blocks away so it's always piping hot. I love it.

When I was in college in Austin, Tx., I used to love the pizza at Conan's. Does anyone know if Conan's is till there? Does it still make great pizza?

(off the pizza topic: I used to also love eating at Shlotzskies (spelling?) but that's turned into a big chain and ain't what it used to be.)

Spent my 40th birthday at MacKenzie River Pizza Co. in Billings - pretty good stuff. Down in these parts, the best around is Zachary's, with one in Oakland and one in Berkeley (I think). Yum. Closest to home is Village Cafe & Pizza - excellent crust, and we usually get half extra cheese and half Hawaiian. Yum again. The very best, though, is the homemade pizza some friends of ours make. Last time they made it for us I threatened to show up for dinner at their house every night. They haven't invited us back - hmmm....

If it isn't made by somebody with jet black hair speaking weak English with a thick Italian accent, it ain't pizza! They should also make tomato pie, which is more authentically Italian anyway.

Ok, just got back and read all these entries about pizza. Let me elaborate on this.

First of all, that Wyoming stuff is probably what clogged Dick Cheney's arteries, so I would be careful about that.

Ewker seems to have totally re-invented the concept of pizza singlehandedly.

Lyra, as far as that dining hall crap goes, you bettter keep toking to get that down the old gullet.

Now, the Dutch, They don't know WTF they are talking about... The only way to eat that Charlie the Tuna pizza is to smoke about 9 oz. in an Amsterdam bar.

Franchise pizza is always a "Caution: enter with care" approach.

And Troll, with a good buzz or not, you should never be allowed to order pizza in the United States ever again.

There is a pizza place in Rockerfeller Center in Manhattan. It's about 100 yards ffrom where the Xmas stands over the skating rink. The cheese pizza is so good that toppings are unnecessary (but optional if you prefer). Maybe they will deliver to a trail in the Catskills???
