“The Hennessey website said that the Ultralight Backpacker A-sym "also functions as a tent with a pair of hiking poles." Anyone ever pitched one in this manner? Good, bad, just plain ugly? Thanks. MM.” 8:55:15 PM 1/29/03 Grounded hammock “I have used my original HH Expedition as a tent on a beach once and it worked well. I used a Y shaped stick, fed the hammock rope over this and tied it off to another stick that I had buried in the sand to stablize it. The other end was tied to a piece of driftwood tree roots. Crawling in was muck easier then I expected and I slept well. Now I know it can be done so I am more prone to take the hammock for almost every type of trip.” 11:14:37 PM 1/29/03 “or just use the tarp as a ummm er tarp?” 1:59:45 AM 1/30/03 “yeah I pitch mine like that once up in Hog Pen Gap hoping to see some meteors - setup was OK, space was a lot less than I was used to but acceptable - sort of like sleeping in a bug bivy” 6:37:28 AM 1/30/03
