Border NPs Need Our Help!

“Last night on the CBS Evening News, they featured a story about how the influx of Mexicans is devastating our border National Parks. National Parks comprise 37% of our southern border.

National Geo Explorer has a similar article in the current(?) issue.

I realize the appeal of America to Mexicans. I am aware that nowhere on Earth is there such a stark contrast between two bordering countries. I'm aware, too, that what Mexico lacks in so many ways is available right over *there*. And to top it all off, our country has a demand for workers that actually encourages this phenomenon.

I respect the need of a person to provide for his or her family, and one's need to provide to the fullest - if they so desire.

But...
We are a nation of laws. Some of these laws regulate what you and I are at liberty to do at our National Parks, ie, permiting, restrictions, etc.

For example -
I would be cited for taking my dog along the same trails that these illegal aliens have created.

I would be cited for sleeping under the same cacti that these aliens sleep under.

I would be cited for violating the standard 10 p.m. quiet time in the campgrounds; some of the night video showed lines of people streaming between and around campers.

I don't mean to imply that it's all about "me". Oh contraire. It's about a significant portion of OUR public lands, and OUR responsibility as the caretakers of these once-pristene landscapes.

A Modest Proposal:
Let's call it "TT Desert Southwest Policepaloosa 2003".

Why would you want to let them in. We have enough illegal Mexicans in this country already.

If they want to come to this country the right way I have no problem with that.”

1. Round up all the current illegal aliens (or as many as possible).

2. Take current illegals, hire them at $10.00 per hour + benefits and the promise of becoming a US citizen to harvest the blowdown in our national parks. The aliens will also be charged with trail maintenance and parks clean-up, while harvesting the downfall.

3. Take blowdown and sell to the following industries at a reduced price; recycling, newspaper, paper, toothpick, lumber, firewood, etc.

4. Take profits from sale of naturally downed timber, purchase supplies to build an wall across the border of US/Mexico.

5. Build wall using illegal alien labor, and train some illegal aliens to maintain it, once it is finished.

Results:

1. Trained workforce for illegal immigrants already in the country.
2. Substantial stoppage of current illegal alien influx.
3. Clean parks, and less of a change of forest fires.
4. A wall that will compete with China's.
5. Long term relief on services currently used to curtail illegal immigration; decreased healthcare costs; etc.

“i think it would be a huge mistake to grant amnesty to all of them but i can see a couple arguments for doing it too but only if you completely clamped down on the borders from there on out. for one thing, you'd know who is here and the ones already here couldn't complain. as it is, they can't know who all is here. and if we just rounded all of them up one day , there would be a huge backlash from all kinds of groups. so maybe if we just said...ok...if you made it in, your in and nobody else gets in. you wouldn't want to announce a date because there would be a rediculous influx toward the deadline.

i also really don't like all the 'english as a second language' classes and stuff like that. also i hate the idea that they actually vote. doesn't seem right if they are not citizens. also, alot of them will come over pregnant, ,bingo bango bongo, the baby is a citizen and the momma gets federal assistance.
