Yeah, I've heard of him before. That's a really cool "tradition".

I enjoyed reading that. thank you for posting it. I am a big fan of Poe. I have been for about 12 years...
I would love to make that trip one day. Also there is a house or cottage here in NY somewhere that he used to live in. i should find it and go visit it.

I thought this was going to be like "tell tale bread" or something.

Honestly, Phaedrus, the image that went through my head when I saw the article title was Poe being slid into a gigantic bread toaster. I swear.

I just thought someone left a toaster on the grave instead of flowers. :)

well isn't that sweet. the fact that Poe lived in B'more is yet another thing that keeps going in one ear, and out the other. each time i hear it, i'm surprised!

Lol, BP!

I just had the image of a piece of bread, mouldering in the toaster until someone was caught for putting it there. Silly, I guess, but funny!

As most people here have probably figured out by now, my brain works way different than most people's...

Mine too. I originally read the title of the thread as "The Toe Poacher".

That made me open it.

I once drove by the house where Poe lived on the west side of town.

Man, that is one scary neighborhood, even in daytime!

The dudes hangin' on that street were probably ALL packin' weapons!

After the Simpsons version of "The Raven," I can't read Poe without snickering.
