Why do we eat animals, when it's so obvious they don't like being eaten? Aren't we supposed to be the moral animal? What's the deal?” 12:13:13 PM 1/30/03 “better to eat them before they eat us.. I told you cows were dangerous” 12:14:15 PM 1/30/03 “It's OK to eat fish because they don't have any feelings.” 12:15:54 PM 1/30/03 “why not they pee and poop in our drinking water all the time...damn little fishes!!” 12:17:41 PM 1/30/03 “I get the impression that introspection runs a little scarce around here.” 12:19:20 PM 1/30/03 “Meat contains all 22 essential amino acids, which are the building blocks of protein. No one vegetable or fruit does, you have to mix and match to get all 22 in order for your body to get actual protein. In conclusion: meat is good.” 12:20:21 PM 1/30/03 “Pain and suffering of other living creatures plays no part in your decision, Artex? By the way, I saw your zipper thread. You should just go ahead and get an RV.” 12:21:45 PM 1/30/03 “Nope, I feel remorse for animals, especially if I eat one that I hunted, but I also feel a full belly. The RV will have to wait for now.” 12:23:51 PM 1/30/03 “it's called the food chain....check into it... NUGENT FOR PRESIDENT!” 12:27:27 PM 1/30/03 “let's hear more about your time in the desert, ULTRA.” 12:37:02 PM 1/30/03 “We have a word for vegetarians around here: Prey.” 12:38:16 PM 1/30/03 “"Vegetarian" is an old Indian word for "bad hunter".” 12:43:07 PM 1/30/03 “LMAO! we're goin bow-huntin for carrots this summer!” 12:58:17 PM 1/30/03 “they were put here for us to eat” 1:05:42 PM 1/30/03 “From Pulp Fiction: But Bacon tastes good, pork chops taste good.” 1:55:27 PM 1/30/03 “I do love some chops” 1:57:08 PM 1/30/03 “It's what's for dinner. LMAO @ Artex and Stratdewd! Shot me uh radish ah did!” 1:59:00 PM 1/30/03 “Sucker was charging!” 1:59:18 PM 1/30/03 “But I got him before he got me!” 1:59:35 PM 1/30/03 Geo “if you got a radish, don't scratch it, use calamine lotion” 2:01:15 PM 1/30/03 “Why would I use calayours lotion?” 2:04:13 PM 1/30/03 “Its better to eat them before they eat us! And meat tastes good! 8)” 2:40:18 PM 1/30/03 “I eat chicken and fish but no red meat. This is because cattle is produced with so much chemicals and raised in filth that i cant bear the thought. Got nothing against it just the way its produced.I try to get clean chicken also...Read the book 'Beyond Beef',it'll make you sick at how meat is made...” 2:47:30 PM 1/30/03 “What davexx says strengthens my beliefs in why it's good to hunt your own food. :-)” 2:51:25 PM 1/30/03 “I eat meat, because I like it. If I hunt it, I have alot of respect about the death of the animal and the process of killing it. If I helped raise it, I have alot invested in it and it is my reward. (Granted, I have not helped to raise any food animal since childhood.) If I bought it at the store, I have alot of respect for the person who raised it and butchered it. Living in this state, there's a good chance that person is my neighbor and my money is putting food on his table. Aaaaah, the circle of life . . . I am trying to eat less meat though. Not 'cause I'm worried about killing animals, but because of what davexx mentioned. I could probably do w/out all the added chemicals and so forth and my daughter definitely could.” 3:01:00 PM 1/30/03 “Why not ? The animals I eat do not care, they are dead. Unlike polar bears, lions, sharks, ants and piranha I do not eat them while they are still alive. From a moral standpoint I also hunt and do my best to ensure the animal dies as quickly and painlessly as possible. I do eat meat, I am prepared to do my own killing and butchering rather than delegating that to someone else. Do you own any leather products ? Do you have a pet ? what does the pet eat ? Realize that many non-animal fabrics are by products of oil and using them drives a demand for oil. The demand for oil results in drilling in areas such as Alaska and destruction of habitat is the major cause of wildlife loss. Unfortunately there are very few simple answers.” 3:06:35 PM 1/30/03 “cats and dogs are carnivorous, how come they are being questioned about their meat eating habits?!?!” 3:10:40 PM 1/30/03 “Nothing like a hunka cow cooked on a campfire!” 3:14:22 PM 1/30/03 “This is a subject I can't get too excited about . . .but, to ride along on Manuka train (of thought) I saw an interesting statistic regarding the number of animals killed to harvest and acre of grain. It was astounding. All the racoons, foxes, rabbits, little field mice, voles, nest birds, insects etc etc etc that are crunched up in the harvester. As I remember, the argument being made was: To produce food for vegetarian consumption we are slaughtering thousands and thousand of animals. I suppose the rejoinder is that a cow has more "value" than a mouse. Or that a mouse living free in a field (until its slaughter to produce food for our consumption) has a better quality of life than a cow (being raised in a feed lot for our consumption). Anyhoo .. . .I don't care. I try to eat "healthy". Free range, no antibiotic chicken, good quality, organic meat (when I can get and or feel like paying for it), free range no anti-biotic eggs, organic veggies, I have a big garden every year etc etc. But I do that for health reasons . . .there are no moral or ethical components to it. I like meat.” 3:27:36 PM 1/30/03 “There should be a song. I like meat. I like to eat meat. Meat is real good. Meeeeaaat!” 3:31:08 PM 1/30/03 Hey Moe Hey Moe...Nyuk Nyuk Nyuk 3:40:48 PM 1/30/03 “When you eat no carbohydrates meat is all that's left.” 3:41:53 PM 1/30/03 “Hilarious Buddur. I'm glad someone was able to use their creative to come up w/ that one.” 3:43:03 PM 1/30/03 Hey........What's With The Bad Link???? 3:46:04 PM 1/30/03 “That song ROCKS!!!!! Heard it live a bunch of times!!!!!! 8)” 3:50:03 PM 1/30/03 PETA “People Eating Tasty Meat” 4:02:22 PM 1/30/03 “PETM?” 4:03:37 PM 1/30/03 4:07:15 PM 1/30/03 OOPS “Animals” 4:08:30 PM 1/30/03 “Durn link didn't work. Is it OK to eat roadkill? If people must eat animal carcasses, roadkill is a superior option to the neatly shrink-wrapped plastic packages of meat in the supermarket. Eating roadkill is healthier for the consumer than meat laden with antibiotics, hormones, and growth stimulants, as most meat is today. It is also more humane in that animals killed on the road were not castrated, dehorned, or debeaked without anesthesia, did not suffer the trauma and misery of transportation in a crowded truck in all weather extremes, and did not hear the screams and smell the fear of the animals ahead of them on the slaughter line. Perhaps the animals never knew what hit them. Of course, people who want to kick the meat habit can get a free vegetarian starter kit at http://www.meatstinks.com/livevegpak.asp. ” 4:08:41 PM 1/30/03 “"I get the impression that introspection runs a little scarce around here." ULTRAPacker 12:19:20 PM The closest Ultra ever comes to introspection is trying to find out if he's farting or taking a dump.” 4:17:43 PM 1/30/03 “LOL @ Pedxing!” 4:23:24 PM 1/30/03 “LOL ped. A fav quote: "I hate cows, eat'em every chance I get." Abbey” 4:37:19 PM 1/30/03 “I LOVE ANIMALS! THEY'RE DELICIOUS!” 4:42:38 PM 1/30/03 “I didn't claw my way to the top of the food chain, just to eat roughage! Vegetables aren't food. They're what food eats.” 5:14:16 PM 1/30/03 “In the words of Mallory: "Because it's there."” 5:29:01 PM 1/30/03 “I stopped eating meat about 10 years ago both for health and philosophic reasons. People make choices, and since I stopped eating meat, my cholesterol is down, my HDL is up and my LDL is down. I don't have a problem with others eating meat, although I do have some problems with the way many "food" animals are raised. My biggest problem with many meat-eaters is their smug attitude and lack of understanding that perhaps not eating huge quantities of flesh will make them healthier and prolong their lives. It's kind of the same with many cigarette smokers. There are those who simply want to parade around and proclaim their right to smoke regardless of anything that proves to them it is not especially healthy. Meat eating is fine, but please, respect those of us who choose not to do it for whatever reason.” 6:19:33 PM 1/30/03 “Here is a man who has thought the issue through. MY question is why would anyone, after thinking about the dangers and evils of eating flesh, continue to do so? I am now going vegetarian. Vegan, in fact.” 6:26:31 PM 1/30/03 “I eat veggie about 30 percent of the time. Would like to increase that percentage but it is harder to supplement the amino acids and protein. Tofu just doesn't cut it.” 6:30:04 PM 1/30/03 “Not only does meat contain every amino acid needed for protein production, it also contains some that aren't naturally present in veggies. I eat meat with every meal (about twice a day) and i have very low LDL and high HDL and VHDL. Just because I eat meat doesn't mean i don't watch what i eat and that i can't eat healthy.” 6:30:54 PM 1/30/03
