Thanks again for the help.” 7:10:31 PM 1/30/03 “buy whatever's on sale at campmor or sierra trading post or rei.My brand is flycatcher or something and are real nice.Bot them in mammoth for 25bux on sale...” 7:23:18 PM 1/30/03 “look at starter brand at walmart. i hove tons and it holds up as well as the expensive stuff” 7:44:19 PM 1/30/03 “check all of the gear websites you know. Also check goodwill stores you would be suprised what you would find.” 7:48:52 PM 1/30/03 “Strat has a good point.I was just at Target tonight and I bought a pair of windblocker off brand pants 100% polyster for only $15 and they look cool feel good and do the job. Its not always about the name if it does the job. 8)” 7:49:02 PM 1/30/03 “wal-mart, target, and jc penney's has some good st johns bay once in awhile cheap...NO COTTON!!” 8:53:41 PM 1/30/03 Check These Sierra Trading Post Links “It's really great if whatever you choose has zippers at the ankle. Makes all the difference in the world if you don't have to take your boots on and off to get the pant legs on or off.” 7:18:35 AM 1/31/03 “It's also a good idea to check and make sure the upper seams, pockets, etc are flat and aren't going to chafe under the hipbelt of your pack.” 4:31:55 PM 1/31/03 “I'm still looking for a pair that don't have 9/10" rises (inseam)....I'm old school and still like my shorts, short.” 4:35:35 PM 1/31/03 “Yeah, I'm with you mtnsteve. I hate shorts that go to my knees.” 10:29:38 AM 2/01/03 “I don't like to wear long pants on the trail. If I need warmth on my legs I put long johns on under my shorts.” 10:56:36 AM 2/01/03 I have a convertable... “it is real nice and breezy when the top is down, but you really need to keep covered up, during those really sunny days cause ya might get sunburned...nothin better than a blond in a convertable, long blond hair flowin in the breeze....ahhhhhhh...simple pleasures.” 2:49:07 PM 2/03/03 “Me thinks I've been ditched for the blonde, hair-flowing, top down convertible chick!! >8-O” 3:09:47 PM 2/03/03 “I agree with mtnsteve and skullcap - those zippers right at the knee are a real pain in the a$$ - they chafe my knees and I'd hate to kneel on the zipper” 3:12:15 PM 2/03/03 “Sure, I show some brains, win an award and he's after the blonde bimbo!! MEN!!! phhhhhhhht!!! lol” 4:38:34 PM 2/03/03 “Does anyone know of convertable pants that are a bit heavier? I want a pair for late fall/winter/early spring but all the pants I'm finding are lighter.” 8:53:08 AM 9/03/05 “nope...but maybe you could invent some?” 11:08:19 AM 9/03/05 Beyond Fleece “I'm not sure these are heavy enough, but this outfit makes some of the best stuff out there....and it's custom made for you. http://beyondfleece.com/products/mens/soft_shell/” 11:15:35 AM 9/03/05 “Well, yes, $155 they better have a gold plated crotch in them. LOL!” 11:17:17 AM 9/03/05 “I bought some (and returned) them they were too heavy for what I wanted. They were like heavy denim. Is that what you mean? I'll look for where I got them. last edited: 9/03/05 11:27:08 AM” 11:18:23 AM 9/03/05 “Good luck nigal, most I have and have seen are really lightweight. You can get polyester BDUs but that doesnt help with the zipleg thing.” 12:46:04 PM 9/03/05 “The more I think about it I'll probably get the REI ones again. Good price, rugged and 100% guaranteed. I just wish they were a bit thicker.” 12:51:04 PM 9/03/05 “dude that reminds me does anyone know were i can get a good pair of wool winter pants for a decent price all the ones ive seen are really expensive?” 12:53:54 PM 9/03/05 “I have REI and North Face convertables (I prefer the North Face) that I love, but I have recently started switching to Gramicci pants. The two pair of Gramicci pants I have aren't fancy: Three pockets, draw string... that's it. No fly. They are nylon and very light. Also, they fit very well and never bind, a very good cut, esp in the crotch. I could see using them in a wide range of activities, not just hiking. Still, I miss all the pockets and it's a P.I.T.A. when you have to take a leak. I have one pair of Mountain Hardware Winter Wander pants that I got on sale. I like them but can't say I love them (I mean after all they are just pants). I got them on sale, so I don't know what I paid. I never pay full price. I tend to stick to layers as a strategy and have a bag of various weights of base layers, mostly Marmot. Then I take a waterproof shell in case I have to get messy (make a snow cave, etc).” 1:27:10 PM 9/03/05 “My first pair of convertibles were from REI and heavy. The winter is upon us, so there should be heavier ones on the racks now in outdoor type stores.” 1:51:02 PM 9/03/05 “i found some heavier columbias with zip off legs and ankle/boot zips @campmor last year. they're almost like cordura and super comfy.” 2:46:30 PM 9/03/05
