If the other half of your legs are going to get wet, why bother with water proof shorts? Just get something that dries quickly.

I have to agree with SG on this one. Go with shorts that dry quick and put "Depends" on underneath.

OK, perhaps not...waterproof shorts would be a tad uncomfortable I would think....you would sweat your guy's off....

We hike in our swim suits, Gore-Tex jackets and sandals.....

Wait a min....Gore-Tex shorts!!!!

Depends

Gortex Shorts

In that order. (Course it might matter the direction of the wetness.)

Ever put a baby in a pool with a regular disposable diaper on? It's amazing how much water those things will hold...

usually. smiley girl was right, though.

it doesn't matter if they get wet. they dry very quickly and you will have cool, dry nuts. if it was waterproof nylon... ugh. that's just wrong!

I also agree with SG and Raddy. Wicking drawers are a must when hiking in 100% nylon it gets wet out and you pass gass. It just wicks out to the outer layer. But, then again, if you pass gass, you just might be better off wearing windbreakers....

Dang Mike, I found you a pair and you reject them for a little thing like price. You didn't say you had a price limit. Hee Hee.

If you are worried about price. I have suggestion. Take a tall kitchen garbage bag, one of those with the drawstring top, cut the bottom out of it, open it, step inside, pull up to waist, clinch drawstring around waist. You now had a RAIN SKIRT. Your "boys" will be be nice and cool and dry.

Instructions for inexpensive waterproof shorts:

1. Get a plastic Wal-Mart bag (this is not an advertisement for Wal-mart, but because of the properties of the plastic in a Wal-Mart bag they work the best).

2. Be very careful in cutting 2 equidistant holes in the in the bottom of the bag (don't ask me what that means).

3. Underwear is not necessary, as the plastic against skin is very comfortable, and the components of underwear interfere with the properties of the Wal-Mart shopping bag.

4. Slip legs into the carefully cut holes, that were hopefully cut to fit your legs, and use the handles of the bag as a belt, fastening it just above the waist.

5. This easy, inexpensive pair of waterproof shorts is very comfortable during any outdoor activity and is guranteed to keep you dry from the elements.

Now you can't complain about the price on this one
