DDR, is it stupid?

“DDR...no, not the RAM, the game. Dance Dance Revolution. My roommates just bought this game for PS2 with two dance pads. What you do is you stand on this pad with 9 squares that are uniquely labeled. Then the game starts. On the TV screen symbols appear and you have to "dance" to the symbols. It plays different music for different types of dances and offers various speeds. I think it is ghay and something invented for middle school girls to play, not college aged men. Am I right or am I missing something here? What do you think?”

we are on our 5th pair of pads.2-3 hours a day those pads are being tromped.I,at 60,am responsible for 1/2 that time.”

However, I have since learned that there is a HUGE, almost "cult" following to DDR. My son (a high schooler) is addicted, goes to public places with friends almost every weekend, male & female, to "practice" or, "show off", depending upon your perspective.

I would worry, however, if he kept at this much past the age of, say, 16 or 17. It's a youth-orineted, game kinda thing.”

“They have installed it in some schools. Its the only way some kids get any exercise. It does sound like fun though.”
