Prosecutor: Your credibility really is shrunken by the fact that you posted here and not on backapcker.com.

Say it to the guys face before you go blasting things in public.

I think Tilt was basically right.

Prosecutor: Your post puts a pretty paranoid spin on something pretty innocuous.

I posted the following on backpacker.com:

Obviously, this is a serious scandal... over ten years, kickbacks from misallocated hats - at the rate of one a month - could easily keep someone in serious trail bars for a week long trip.

But what is even more egregious is that this moderator would stoop so low as to try to provide a writer of high quality posts with further exposure? Why didn't he give the award to someone who's posts he would want to see more widely distributed and illustrated with appropriate pictures.

Who had to be bought off to prevent prosecutor from organizing a grand jury on this malfeasance.

My faith in America is blown... first Enron, now this!

I don't think the Prosecutor deserves the dunce cap treatment, and I don't really want to question his integrity... I just think he's gone off the beam temporarily and needs to remove the giant bug that seems to have crawled up his ass.

You know what a <RASPBERRY> sounds like? I saw Al Capp (creator of "Li'l Abner" on the Tonight Show years ago, and Johnny Carson was asking him How in the World did he pronounce this guy's name "Joe Btfsplk"??

"Oh, that's EASY," says Capp. "It's "Joe <RASPBERRY>!"

I have a Backpacker Magazine Cap -
It has:
"BACKPACKER MAGAZINE"
Emblazened in large letters accross the front.

I don't agree with the $10.00 value someone placed on it, and I only wear it around the house (after dark, in the garage).

Prosecutor - you really don't want one..

p.s. does anyone do day hikes in the Gila, near Silver City?

SACRAMENTO, California (AP) -- Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger is being paid $1 million a year as a consultant to a company that publishes fitness magazines, a deal critics say is a serious conflict of interest for the former bodybuilding champion.

The payments, revealed Wednesday in filings with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, are from American Media Operations, a subsidiary of the company that publishes magazines including Flex and Muscle & Fitness.

Critics say the contract is a conflict of interest because Schwarzenegger's pay comes from advertising revenue and the magazines often feature ads about dietary supplements. The governor last year vetoed a bill that would have imposed government regulations on the dietary supplement industry.

"This is one of the most egregious apparent conflicts of interest that I have seen. This calls into question his judgment as to who he is working for, and it calls into question what he thinks he owes the public," said Larry Noble, executive director for the Center for Responsive Politics in Washington, D.C.

That's a pretty outrageous statement, Arnie doesn't decide which advertisers pay to get their products in those rags, he's been involved with them for years and years, since WAY before he became the governator. They also forgot to mention that, as part of his deal with them, they donate a substantial amount of $$ to his kids fitness program, which helps a lot of children & has for a number of years.

I'm not necessarily a big Arnie supporter, but if you're going to take a shot at him at least publish the WHOLE truth with some of the alternative views / perspectives.

seems to me that would be fine before he became an elected official, but once he did become one, he would have needed to sever that tie

Didn't take long to change his mind.

"Independent political observers agreed, saying the contract showed a lapse in judgment by the Republican governor."
