The nerve of my boss making me work when I should be out playing in the snow. I can't go after work because we are have dinner guests over. (hhmm I wonder if they wouldn't mind eating there dinner in the snow?)

ok here is the plan.

we can get geobeet and Tilt and Strat to distract the little bugger, then you can go crab the sled while I hold off the mother. we all can meet in the park in 1 hour.

you game?

It's barely autumn...
The weather forecast for SE Michigan is calling for possible snow on Wed PM and Thursday.

Wooo Hooo!!! Big smiles on this girl's face!

Whoah, Tara!!
Too soon! That's just cold, sloppy mess. Wait until late December, patiently. Then we can get all the snow mother nature wants to bestow upon us. It's fun if there's enough to play in. Too early is just plain miserable.

BTW, there is a VERY slim possibility that I might still make the PR hike. Sshhh! I don't want to jinx anything just yet. ;o)

Patience! Some of us would rather get through Halloween before the white stuff starts, please. Not that I don't like it and all, but I LOVE Autumn and would like to enjoy t this year, as last year's was so cruddy.

Yammy, you can do either way. I use my hiking boots unless it's freezing cold. My feet stay pretty warm.

Isn`t bad enough that we get that stuff almost 5months out of the year.It generally comes in November up hereand doesn`t leave until the end of April, got caught in a beauty of a snow storm while canoeing last April, came down so hard I couldn`t see Keith paddling in the bow.Made for interesting paddling.Actually I don`t mind snow that much...it`s just the slop , the freezing rain ,and the tons of salt that put on the roads....ate the snot out of my poor blazer last year..The best thing about it is NO BUGS,bears are a minimal risk and there are no crowds!!.Plus it makes tracking animals easier. tarabul if your that desperate you could always scrape the ice out of your freezer,I think I hace enough ice in my old freezer to make a snow angel.

Free, modern snowshoes will take just about all kinds of boots.

Maple, Check the 'Trips' page for the my November 28 Dacks trip, the 'UGMMT', December 30 and, of course, the justly renowned FYAO, IVth edition.

I've got a few bucks in my pocket burning a hole so I think I may buy me a set of those LL Bean snowshows. Now all I need is a place to use them.

Nigal, did you check out the good deal on Atlas 12 series in STP? $188! I'm not sure about what sizes they had, just noticed the price...

No I didn't see that. $188 is a bit more than I wanted to spend. I'm not looking for really good ones as I'll be lucky to use them 3 times a year. The LL Bean ones have an accessery package too. Shoes, 2 poles, and snowshow bag for about $150. My guess is that the biggest sacrifice I'll be paying is in the weight of the shoes.

Check out e-bay for snowshoes.

I got a pair of aluminum shoes for about $70........so far so good.

It's more than I'd wanna spend too. But, it's the lowest price I've seen since since I got mine. I bet LL Bean has a great warrenty on theirs.

either that or she'll go back into the sled for another year, which is no hardship.

I guess thats the beaut thing about snow shoes foe kids that age, they've got plenty of time to grow into 'em.

It was Bunyip juniors first go in a Toboggon and it take long for him to go solo (if a little bit out of control, then we threw him in the backpack and spent a couple of hours having a walk through the snow gums.
