yes I can handle that. only because I have to.

ps, lipstick
I got a job at the ASAPC here in the city last year. But I had to turn it done because of the pay offer.way less then what I am making now
they are the same center that you see on animal planet.
this is not something that i have dived into head first. I have gone to school for it and will continue to do so as soon as treebeard wins the lotto. LOL

in truth I plan to go back in the spring.

maple, being that you can deal with it is a good thing. It means you will be able to give comfort to the animals there.

I tried to get a chihuahua from a rescue site. I only wanted a chihuahua, but the site had none in my state, so I got mine from a woman that shows her chihuahuas and didn't want mine because if Capri won her championship, she was too small to breed.

Then after buying her, a year later, I found two other chihuahua rescue places that I could have gone to. There was one problem with the rescue chihuahuas, they were probably from "backyard breeders", and they were all too big for me to take on the plane with me when I traveled.

The backyard breeders don't hold themselves to any standards, so the dogs are usually relatively big, and potentially unhealthy. Capri at 3-1/2 pounds just fits in an airline carrier.

maple, also, if you see a dog headed towards euthanasia and it's a purebred dog, I have found that there are purebred rescue places that will take them if you contact them. You can find them on the internet.

My sister coulnd't believe that people who spend big bucks for purebred dogs would throw them on the street or bring them to the a.s.p.c.a., but she is so wrong. I think one big problem that gets them there is the owner not knowing and being able to housebreak them. Italian Greyhounds are notorious for not being able to housebreak at all.

$600 a month for insurance??? The total cost (employer + employee) for health insurance around here is only about $200 for a family plan. Employee out-of-pocket is about $85 of that.

I always get jobs that I interview for that I want. I wear my best outfit, have my resume in order, and sound very willing to do anything that is asked of me, basically sound like you will pitch in where neccesary even if it does not fit the job description.

I always say I really want the job, because of what the job entails, because it's what I like to do. They like to hear that even though it's obvious since you are there.

Look like a happy person but not too bubbly, which will be construed as annoying.

techntrek must live in the absolute low cost insurance capital of the freakin world!

Maple, they must not be picking up ANY of the cost for you - you could buy your own coverage solo thru BCBS cheaper than that!
Roam Around

$600. sounds like a price for insurance you take out by yourself if the employer does not offer coverage. That's an abnormal amount through an employer.

Insurance is a must. If you God forbid get seriously injured and have no health insurance, you will be in debt forever from it, between the hospital stay, surgery and medicine. Even a broken arm is a fortune, between doctors visits, e-rays and medicine.

NY is ridiculous in how pricey insurance can be. I always knew it was high, but never quite had a real grasp on other states' rates, so I could make a comparison. The reason Maple's insurance is so important is that I faced the same problem with my premium at my firm. They wanted something like 2 hundred something a paycheck (twice monthly) for family coverage. Single was a lot cheaper. So, Maples' company offered a decent plan for reasonable premiums. Now, if she gets this job, we have some real creative thinking to do!

I pay about 300 a month in CO - was fairly comparable in FL and NC as well. Thats me and dependents.

Its enough to make you wanna move to Canada!

Insurance is one of those benefits you really look at today. You can take a lowering pay job if the insurance payments are low or if the company pays all of it. The money saved equals a high paying job with a high insurance payment

I pay just under $200 a month just for myself and my employer covers the other $200. The thing that sucks is a rarely get sick so I hardly ever use my health insurance.

well not me but,
Kamper has an interview in Charlotte, NC Monday. We've been looking at Asheville, but Charlotte has lots of potential. The clinical site is a loan repayment site which means the National Health Service Corps will pay $25,000 a year towards her student loans not to mention she'll be earning about twice what she's making now.. Sooo, that's like a $60,000 increase from her part time work here. Cross your fingers folks.
