Just have the perspective to avoid falling into the trap of thinking your personal oddesy in this to be the True Path which the lay-person can't realize without wasting $200 on books. Stumprider, I too, wish you luck in your pursuit of a job!” 10:49:18 PM 2/08/03 “your such a dork.” 5:53:42 PM 2/09/03 “Mutt, I have spent a total of 50.00 on books. All my tapes that I listen to are borrowed from teachers at school. The tapes are the expesive stuff.” 6:00:32 PM 2/09/03 “Mutt, I would like to shake your hand. Your command of the written language is to be admired, but your insertion of the parenthetical "crap" in your post of 9:12:26 on 2/8 was so masterful as to make me fall off of my chair laughing. PLEASE, keep it up, boys! BTW, Tea, you are not on the debate team, are you?” 9:45:00 PM 2/09/03 Thanks “Thanks to all for the well wishes, but who out there wants to give me $50,000 to play on TT ALL day? I will even learn to troll for you?! :-)” 10:06:41 PM 2/09/03 demoted again....... “am i still the unofficial dork of TT?” 10:11:42 PM 2/09/03 “Mutt, I would like to shake your hand. Your command of the written language is to be admired Lol! I write like a pompous a$$! But thank you for your compliment.” 8:18:11 AM 2/10/03 Luck vs. self-reliance “I wonder if the truth couldn’t be somewhere in between the extremes. All the hard work in the world wouldn’t help you succeed if you were unlucky enough to be born in some god forsaken third world country like say… Kansas.” 8:44:20 AM 2/10/03 “can I ask WHY? what bad blood is between the two of you? Did, this really all start when I asked the question about the job interview? it cant be. I mean you both gave me great advise. or am I just tooting my own horn here? I still don't see what the big deal is, I mean Ice tea should be applauded for his hard work at trying to get into college. For a young kid, he is very sure of himself and I like that. So whats the deal smeal??” 8:45:13 AM 2/10/03 “wasn't smeal one of the 'freakies'? you know freakise cereal...remember? [jingle] we are the freakies, ,we are the freakies, and this is our freaky tree.... we never miss a meal, cuz we love our ce-re-ill.... man, that was a good cereal...” 8:48:49 AM 2/10/03 “was it laced with LSD? sorry” 8:52:52 AM 2/10/03 “LSD=Lot Sugar Dumbass!!!!” 8:53:38 AM 2/10/03 “hmm.... well i don't know... perhaps that would explain my demetia....” 8:55:37 AM 2/10/03 “can I ask WHY? Yeah, I was wondering that myself. I refuted one point in Ice Tea's argument, and he calls me a moron or something. Then when I assert my point, he really flies off the handle. Puzzling, and amusing. Really, there's nothing more than that to any of this - at least on my side. Tea?” 8:58:28 AM 2/10/03 “I just find that when I talk about material that I just read it sticks in my head longer, so I took this opertunity to talk about the truths that I know in the world of success. Mapple, it did start on your thread, by the way how did you do today? Mutt, makes a point that is ever so slightly valid, my point is rock solid.” 11:31:53 AM 2/10/03 “ ![]() 11:52:02 AM 2/10/03 “tes, i go after work tonight. sucks too cause I feel like crap!!” 11:54:24 AM 2/10/03 “"truths" in the world of "success". Tea should be a cult leader.” 12:05:27 PM 2/10/03 “"Sure insult Mr. Hill. Resort to personal attacks. Hill, was taught by the great Andrew Carnigie." Ice Tea Tea, I assume you are referring to Andrew Carnegie? He died before the Great Depression. Alot has changed in the business world since then.” 1:28:44 PM 2/10/03 “Geez... after a long and successful career in which Ice Tea has succeeded on many levels he offers the weight of the wisdom he has acquired through many years of struggling on his own to make something of himself and raise a family. Nonetheless, Mutt declines the opportunity to bathe in this fount of wisdom. Mutt and others have also missed the spectacular display of acumen by Iced Tea as impliments everything he knows about success and the cultivation of respect and esteem amongst ones peers. Only the hopelessly ignorant or self-involved will be anything less than stunned by his charismatic displays of competence and mastery on every level.” 3:50:40 PM 2/10/03 “Next, he'll be offering marital tips.” 3:59:56 PM 2/10/03 “I think Tea should change his screen name to 'Jeff'.” 4:07:57 PM 2/10/03 too funny PedXing “Pedxing -- You left me gasping and ROTFLMAO I am not sure that the intended will understand it . . .which is a shame. For all my vitriol, sarcasm, bluntness, nastieness, foul-mouthedness . . .I have never been that good. And YOU who, on more than one occaision, I have used as the level headed foil to some of my longer rants. YOU maintains dignity and equanimity under all all circumstances and under a withering barrage of fire. Very very funny. Hats off. I have let this thread go by three times today because . . .well . . .because it was too easy. Too easy to point out the obvious, and it would have been too easy to be "not nice". And I didn't want to be "not nice".” 4:23:15 PM 2/10/03 priapus “NOt to undermine you . .. but the Carnegie in question is Dale Carnegie. He was a huckster who franchised a popular series of sales training/assertiveness training seminars in the 1970s (I think) . ..think in terms of that Powers guys . . .that real estate huckster presentation guy . . .you know tall . .lots of teeth . . .like that guy.” 4:27:04 PM 2/10/03 stuart smalley “Tea - - I admire your enthusiasm. I admire your ability to wade through pile of platitudes and mountains of merde without falling asleep. I hope that someday you are THE BEST darn whatever you want to be that you can be. Because, gosh darn it . . . to quote Stuart Smalley, (also a disciple of Mr. Carnigie): "I am fun to be with. Because I'm good enough, I'm smart enough and doggone it, people like me. Well, not everybody. But that's their problem. And your problem." So Tea . . .good luck wid all that. And . . .I gotta say . . .I hope that, as reality hits . . .and you start to grow up . . .that your personality isn't so ridgid that you can't adjust, accomodate, live with, make concessions, move on, move around or over . . .there are times in life (again . . .you know . . with practical experience, age, wisdom (all three you are lacking through no fault of your own)) sometimes you must bend or you will break.” 4:28:50 PM 2/10/03 “Don't let them bend you too far Ice Tea, hang in there... just remember... The reward of suffering is experience. Harry S. Truman” 4:36:42 PM 2/10/03 “Lee, He is the one who cited Andrew!” 4:42:17 PM 2/10/03 I'm glad pedxing understands me.. “Think about it people, Pedxing is a freaking idiot, and he even understands me. I mean, he is dumb. Dumber then a dog that licks it's own a$$. But he understands.” 4:53:19 PM 2/10/03 “Yes indeed, I do understand. Tea is smarter than those dogs, he prefers not to lick his own. Next time I see a happy dog walking down the street - wagging its tail in delight, it is prolly because it met someone with Tea's wisdom.” 5:09:54 PM 2/10/03 “Thanks Lee. Its both fun and funny how we serve as foils for each other sometimes.” 5:26:10 PM 2/10/03 “Oh ped, please don't pee on the fire hydrents, they will lock you up for that>..... Maybe it has been you good luck that they haven't caught you yet.....hehehehe” 6:44:11 PM 2/10/03 “...and if you do, don't sway too close to the hydrant in sub-freezing weather.” 7:13:24 PM 2/10/03 “Tea and Violin. With respect to your last two posts, I must confess my ignorance and yeild to your superior knowledge. It would be silly of me to argue with you, who write from direct and extensive experience, while I have only read about them in school. Tea, I hope trust you were not tried as an adult.” 11:07:58 PM 2/10/03 “c'mon guys...lighten up on the kid. I have always appreciated Tea's exhuberence, evident in many of his posts. Let's all keep in mind the 17 year old testosterone factor... At that age, you can have either brains or balls, but not both at the same time (usually). Tea shows a lot of knowledge and wisom-for-his-age, but we're quick to jump on him when he shows the least bit of immaturity? He's 17! lighten up! As for the job interviewing process...arrrggghh. I have nothing but sympathy for anyone going through it. I've been on both sides of the desk - that helps considerably. Practice does make perfect... oh yeah...and do wish me luck. ;)” 7:16:05 AM 2/11/03 “Good luck with that! Yeah, I knew everything when I was 12, too, LOL... He hasn't the slightest idea what he doesn't know yet. If he spouts off less and listens more, he might survive long enough to realize this.” 7:24:45 AM 2/11/03 Pass the tea and crumpets please... “Tea didn't just show "the slightest bit of immaturity", he went on a pretty intense attack. When a fiesty pup runs around yapping and nipping at people's heels - someone is going to try to bring him up short. Speaking for myself, I indicated my amusement with his presumption. That done, all I did was turn his insults back at him in diluted form. It seems to me that people tried to be pretty tolerant with Tea. Mutt showed some genuine patience. That said, it's never a good idea to get into a fight with a kid. Tea's exuberance is praiseworthy - hopefully his capacity for critical thinking and his insight will grow to match it. There is plenty of time.” 7:47:55 AM 2/11/03 “Oh yeah - and good luck Amy!” 7:53:47 AM 2/11/03 “AmyG -- why don't you just stick to stripping at Scores??? ;-} well . . .you had a point. I can't disagree. He is 17 . . .and as Tilt said . . he has no idea what he doesn't know yet. However . . .I think he would be better served to listen a little more, and blather a little less (something I could stand to learn at well!) I think its great that Tea has done a lot of reading. I think its fantastic that he is goal oriented. So many kids his age have no sense of priorities, goal setting etc. That's all great. But the fact remains that he has virtually no pratical experience in what he's professing to be knowledgable about . . .and, at 17, he should be expected to demonstrate SOME degree of maturity when folks who have been on both sides of the interview desk, offer their perspective. Tea -- As far as the point of this thread . . Tea vs. Mutt . . . there is just no "fight", no real challenge even. Mutt, as irritating as you may find him, has practical experience here and common sense perspective. You can do all the reading you want, and I encourgage you to read, take notes, set goals . . .but unitl you have simple, pratical experience, in life, in interviewing, in holding a job, in interviewing other folks for jobs . . .you just won't know, what you don't know. Mutt wins without really having to do anyting.” 7:55:05 AM 2/11/03 “Did I step through the Twilight Zone?” 8:01:49 AM 2/11/03 “Yes Maple, Months ago...” 8:35:50 AM 2/11/03 Now I'm back on the attack!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! “Ok, so you call can count, very good. I am proud. BTW, did you have to take off your shoes to get 17???? You can all point out that I am 17 so nicely....But what you have not thought of is that BECAUSE I am 17 I do NOT have controll of my finances therefore practical experience is impossable for me now. I do work, and my work is well praised. I work at a scout camp in the summer. And now I work for a graphic design company. I make more money an hour then most (all) of my friends. Did I menchen that my work and negotiation skills have me eating breakfast and lunch for FREE..... Do you have any idea how much money I save now???? Granted I have no corperate experince, but once again that is because I am not old enough. But keep in mind that any one of my employers would gladdly write glowing letters of recomendation. Because of my age I do not know everything...So I listen and read. You tell me to "to listen a little more", how the hêll do you think I know all that I do? I have my mastermind group. The consit of my commercial art teacher who is running his own company after school, a sales women for ???? (but she is damn smart), a landscaping teacher that has his own consulting firm and teaches at rutgers, and a man that owns his company of 4 who makes about a mill a year, in machein controlls. I say this to you to show that I have poeple who are succesfull that I do listen to. If I didn't have successfull adult rolemodles I would never be so passionate about this topic. In fact if I did not have this master mind group I would be a typical kid with nothing other on his mind then sex and.......sex. Clearly I do listen. Oh' BTW, is there any one on this site who knew as much as I do about finance, success and politics at my age? Or where you concernd with vidio games, fashion, cars and sex??? Since we all know the answer is it safe to say that I am ahead of the curve that you where all at, at my age? I think so. oh' I allmost forgot....NONE OF YOU HAVE ONE PIECE OF LITURATURE TO PROVE ME WRONG!!!!!!!!! I have plenty of magazines tape and books to shoot you down, but you have nothing..” 11:23:37 AM 2/11/03 oops! “” 11:24:23 AM 2/11/03 “well that settles who is the officail dork” 11:24:53 AM 2/11/03 LOL! “Thank-you Alex P. Keaton.” 11:36:09 AM 2/11/03 “Uh, Tea. There was one video game when I was your age and Pong can't really hold one's interest for very long. Believe it or not, there were things like sports and scouts in the olden days. You assume we must be some kind of losers like the folks you know of your parents age. You know nothing of my interests 30 years ago. I will grant you one concession. I did not profess to know so much about politics, finance and success.” 12:05:50 PM 2/11/03 “HA!! i love it when that happens. Priapus, i don't believe i've made your acquaintance. new here?” 12:11:34 PM 2/11/03 “What lyra means is: 1) Are you m/f? 2) How old are you?” 12:18:17 PM 2/11/03 HEY!! :-) “and what Violin means is 1) what's your social security number? 2) look at my cool webpage!” 12:19:52 PM 2/11/03 male or female? “What kind of a question is that? ![]() Its ART, Matt!” 12:39:23 PM 2/11/03 “alrighty then! nice to meet you. i'll refrain from shaking your hand, if you don't mind...don't want to get that close. LOL! and...you must be around 45? and your social security number is...?” 12:56:49 PM 2/11/03
