Taft Point...Part III
I've completed my version of the Taft Point trip that me, Tekapo and Wind Walker did last weekend.

Check it out at The Backcountry: Taft Point

Enjoy!

Nice trip and a nice website. Thanks for sharing. Wow, cooking right outside your tent! Must be nice hiking that area and not having to worry about bears for a change!

Great pictures and trip report. My husband and I will do our first snowshoe backpack this month with a Sierra Club outing out of Sugar Pine Point state park.

Hikin Mike, remember me from two summers ago? You told me about your Yosemite trips and reassured me about bears when I did my solo Yosemite trips. I post as Karen on the Backpacker magazine site, but someone already got my name on this one.
My husband and I just signed up for the Sierrapalooza 5-day hike, so we will meet.

Great photo album. It really transported me there. Yosemite is an awesome place. Nice tribute at the end also.

MileMonster, It does make it rather convenient. We stored the food in canisters so I wasn't too worried. We did see bear tracks at Taft Point though.

Karen, I do remember you. I saw you introduce yourself on another thread and thought that was you. Welcome to "the other side"!

Thanks to all for the comments!

Hikin' Mike - Glad you were able to make good use of those photos. Felt bad about your camera going out so soon. Any news with that from the shop?

Thanks again!

No news yet. Maybe this week. He did say if it was related to the last repair that he would make it right.

Thanks again for the use of photos. It was interesting to see that we didn't the same photos!

Even still, until you're 100% confident in the camera (or their workmanship), going with a backup point-and-shoot is a good idea.

After this last incident that's exactly what I'm going to do! Even if I'm 100% confident. It doesn't hurt and it's only a few more ounces...
