State return just deposited. Took only 4 days. Thank you turbo tax and thank you direct deposit. I can save it all for warm weather hikes...but will I?

I'm still waiting for mine. I went with direct deposite as well, but mailed my return in. I refuse to pay $40 to e-file. I can wait it out to get my return.

I use the online eSmartTax. Filed on a Friday, had my MN refund by Tuesday direct deposited.

Still waiting on Fed. refund, however.

Right, Zac, the filing fee is a bummer. This is the first time I did it on line, always before was paper. It was really fun, though, seeing everything happen so quick.

What's really cool is that in a smidgen over one year I'll have my Social Security on top of my Coast Guard retirement. If I don't go on a complete financial self destructive binge, I can start backpacking Europe, etc.

We self-employeds always must pay, no refund.

$40 e-filing fee??!!? Not with the one I used!

I'm a repeat customer and as such I could have gotten by with a fee of around $12 or something. But no, I went for the option of having last year's tax info brought in, which probably ended up totaling around $29 or so. And then I realized I had no reason to do that, oh well, too late.

Anyhoo, eSmartTax is pretty reasonable!

Now that you're drawing social security, how much can you earn in your job without being penalized?

I guess I can't complain. I used TurboTax online and only had to pay for the state taxes to be done. The Federal was free.

You didn't pay to E-file lizs? I purchased TurboTax last year and this so the data was already on my computer - no fee to bring it in - but I did have to pay to E-file. Last year it was free after rebate. Did you do yours at turbotax.com?

I don't like direct deposit - call me old fashioned. My federal rebate is supposed to be mailed ~two weeks after I filed.

No state income tax Ewker? What's the sales tax in TN?

Well well well, my federal refund just got direct-deposited today! Total score. I heart TurboTax.

TENNESSEE
Sales Taxes
State Sales Tax: 7% on tangible property (prescription drugs exempt); 6% on food and food ingredients. Counties and cities may add another 1.5% to 2.75% to the total of either rate.
Gasoline Tax: * 21.4 cents/gallon
Diesel Fuel Tax: * 18.4 cents/gallon
Gasohol Tax: * 21.4 cents/gallon
Cigarette Tax: 20 cents/pack of 20

back a few yrs ago they tried to get a state income tax passed. Many, many folks were out protesting the income tax every day in front of the capital. Very few were in favor of it. It failed in the State House and Senate.

I get my state paycheck direct deposited for about 10 years now. Pay all my bills on-line too. Maybe write a couple checks for backwards (usually state) agencies that can't understand electronic banking like our education dept. Makes you wonder.

Won't e-file until it's free. I'm patient & can wait.

Woo hoo! Fed refund just deposited in checking today; state refund arrived Wednesday. I see from last year's post it's about a week later this year - maybe because I filed a week later? Total 11 days for state; 13 days for fed.

Too bad it's all already spoken for (those home remodeling projects will do that)....

Woo, now that really was free! Mine is only free if you think about it a certain way. haha.

The girl who rented the house for all of us is slightly insane, and likes things really clean...so the house she picked is still being built. LOL!! We'll be the first ones ever to stay in it, so no one else will have touched anything. It has 3 floors, and an elevator!

AHEM...on behalf of the United States Government I would like to deeply thank you for the Interest Free load you made to the government. Without your assistance we would never have been able to build a bridge in Alaska for 35 people and a plot of land for a politician.

Well, this ties the longest it's taken to get my refund after e-filing - 14 calendar days. And this was the earliest I've e-filed. The previous trend was if I e-filed a little earlier, the refund arrived in my bank account a little sooner. But not this time, oh well.

Any hackers: now would be the time to hack into my bank account and rip me off....

I owe again, but this year only $600 more, not $4000 more like the last two years. Total Federal, State and County taxes are enough to take care of two families of 4 at the poverty level. Whoever you are, enjoy!

I always get money back. If you wanna break even or pay at the end of the yr that is fine.

Just curious how many put the extra saved money each paycheck into an IRA or savings account. I bet very few.
