“Hey guys! Just curious. Has anyone ever hiked these reservoirs? I only live a couple of hours away in Michigan. I'd be curious if these places are worth the trip.” 2:52:49 PM 2/09/03 “Has anyone ever hiked here? Thanks in advance.” 3:53:47 PM 2/10/03 “Crazy Mike? Are you there? Ever been in this area of Indiana? I was just looking at some maps and websites and see three big reservoirs and a state park in this area. Looks like many miles of hiking trails. Probably not great backpacking, but hey... Ever been there? Or are you just an Indiana poser? :)” 8:46:07 PM 2/10/03 Huntington/Salamonie/Mississinewa “I've been down around all three of these reservoirs. Huntington has a route around the northern part of the lake. Its about a 12 mile loop IIRC. Most iof it is through wooded areas and is not too bad. Having said that, I've never hiked it. It is also a mountian bike trail and that's what I've done there. Two parts of the trial follow paved roads, in both instances it is to cross the lake, once on a bridge at the southern end of the loop and once to cross the dam at the northern end. Salamonie has various hiking trails aalong ist shoreline, but nothing to loop the lake. I've only ben on one trail there and cant' remember its name offhad. I'd have to look it up. Mississinewa does not have any trails around its shoreline as far as I know. There is a state forest just belwo the dam that has hiking trails throughout it and its failry rugged. The problem is that trail-riders also use this location and the horses have really mcked up parts of the system.” 6:26:02 AM 2/12/03 “Thanks Hawkeye!” 6:32:00 AM 2/12/03 “Sorry dude I only go where they have trails for backpacking. I don't do day hikes. 8)” 4:44:52 PM 2/12/03
