Cade's Cost Family Camp 4th July Questio nView MessagesViewing posts 1 to 4 of 4 messages posted.
“Wow, that subject was a mouthful. Some friends and I are thinking of car camping with the kids at Cade's Cove for the 4th of July. I have a few questions: 1. Weather. weather.com lists the average temps for Knoxville as 86/68. I'm guessing I can take maybe 5 off of those for Cades Cove. Any comments? 2. The website says that you can put up to 2 tents in a 13x13 area. There will be 2 tents that are each that size. The site goes onto say that they can't guarantee that you'll get to be in adjacent sites. How do most people handle this? Are the sites really that small? 3. I was thinking that I had read that the trail to Ramsey Cascades is paved. Is this true? Any advice would be great. I've never car camped up there. My kids will be 3 and 1 1/2 by then, so it's car camping or nothing. Right now I'm thinking we take the kids up to the Cascades in jogging strollers(if paved) on Friday. Saturday we explore Cade's Cove and then maybe do some tubing. Sunday morning we could see Abrams Falls and then head home.” 11:06:47 AM 2/10/03 “Oops, supposed to be cades cove” 11:07:07 AM 2/10/03 “Since I goofed up the title of this thread I started another one with the correct title. Here's the address to it. http://www.thebackpacker.com/trailtalk/thread.php?id=19527&age=3” 11:20:29 AM 2/10/03 “Cades Cove is a very popular camping area, so you'll need to get reservations in asap. I'm not sure about the adjacent sites, but I don't really see that as much of a problem. Unless you're at far opposite ends! Weather; It might be a little cooler than that. It helps to stay under the trees, and hope you get a slightly elevated site to catch a breeze. Yes, the entire trail to Ramsey Cascades is paved.” 11:24:05 AM 2/10/03
