I love my new Martin

With the GTX frets?

I used a pair of REI Schoeler stretch ankle gaiters one my Sierra trek last month and really like them. They're mostly rock/dust blockers and would get torn up on a scree field or probably wet out in really damp conditions. But they are lightweight and really breathable. They're pretty good in packed snow, too. I note that REI doesn't seem to carry them anymore :(

You mean one of them little thangs?
That's cool!

My son Henry is now in Portland. He spent over 60 days on the road and almost 7,000 miles on that R65(1980).
I told him that is was a miserable way to travel.

Ya. It's a '72 Vespa but ugraded electrics, motor, etc. It's the ultimate in urban transpo, IMHO, better than a bicycle or moto...

Wait, so you rebuilt the moto for HIM??? Boy going to school or what? You come out this way, you let me know...

I bought that bike new in 1981 and it had 10,000 miles when he bought it from my buddy.

It seems the same thing happened to him that happened to me. My first kid was born in 1983 and I sold it in '84.
His first kid was 1991 and the tag sticker was '92. It sat in a garage since.

I put about $2,000 into it......exhaust, tires, tubes, handlebar and some shop work.
H-Man paid the rest and away he went in July.

He had a great time(hee-hee-hee-yeah!)......
The dang thing wouldn't stay lit at high elevation in Colorado. He had to keep goosin' the throttle when stopped.
There was the flat tire in Stinking Desert, Arizona with the temperature 115*.

Other than that it was real neato!

H-Man is staying with a high school buddy in Portland and looking to stay a while.
He finished college in May.

If I get out that way to visit I will let you know.
