That is what this is all about.” 6:11:37 PM 6/08/06 “Reps control the Senate!! They couldn't totally agree on it, if they had it would have passed. Don't put all the blame on the Dems” 6:18:22 PM 6/08/06 “I suggest we repeal any incentive to be rich.” 6:26:06 PM 6/08/06 “Hey, being a lazy internet surfing from work do-nothing has it's benifits man. Ya can just sit around and do the minimum and it gives ya all the free time to hate the successful people, right V? LOL!” 6:37:52 PM 6/08/06 “And, while we're at it, let's make it a felony offense for anyone to have any motivation to succeed and/or better themselves. We should lock them away, those people are a plague upon society - we should make sure they don't influence our kids!” 6:37:52 PM 6/08/06 “Wow, I've never seen that before. DeadNBloated 7:37:52 PM 6/08/06 wanderer 7:37:52 PM 6/08/06” 6:39:00 PM 6/08/06 “ ![]() Oh damn! We're stuck together here from posting at the same second. A little help here? Someone? Anyone!?” 6:41:38 PM 6/08/06 “Sarge, even though in jest what you say is in part true. Being rich is good ,but like drinking can be carried to a destuctive end. Bill Gates may be a better example that some athletes ,who without help, can cause great damage.” 8:01:11 AM 6/09/06 “What should be the precise cutoff for monetary assets?” 8:07:33 AM 6/09/06 “you're not taxed until the estate is over 1 million. It may be more now but I don't think it is less” 8:45:07 AM 6/09/06 ““you're not taxed until the estate is over 1 million. It may be more now but I don't think it is less” The amount doesn't make any diference. We're talking principles, fairness, etc. Taxing people twice on the same $$ is indefensible.” 8:47:47 AM 6/09/06 “What should be the precise cutoff for monetary assets? In other words, how much money should somebody be allowed to have?” 8:52:11 AM 6/09/06 “Violin and Ewker really dig this Class Warfare crap.” 8:55:02 AM 6/09/06 “when everything is relative and there are no absolutes - it's nice to know people aren't filthy rich, because then you are” 9:11:11 AM 6/09/06 “Violin and Ewker really dig this Class Warfare crap.” StoveStomper 8:55:02 AM 6/09/06 not sure how you got that out of my post. I made a comment, not for or against. but that is typical of you.” 9:41:53 AM 6/09/06 “You folks do understand that this country was founded as an alternative to the entrenched aristocracies of Europe, don't you? Do you hate the concept of democracy that much? Do you know that repealling the estate tax was expected to cost about one TRILLION dollars over a ten year period? Do you have a way to make up the difference, or should we just put that on the national charge card too?” 10:37:00 AM 6/09/06 “A trillion in ten years? I'm pretty sure there's a shiitload of pork that can be cut that totals way more than that. You make it sound like we HAVE to make up the difference. I say less waste instead.” 10:44:31 AM 6/09/06 “Sarge, that is one of the speed bump in con troll. The limit can't be set other than a progressive tax. The point is that trickle down is when the gov. hires professional spenders and investors by lowering their tax in hopes they will put that money into investments that are for the good .Pro spenders should spend in places that help the life style of the less able. Show me that this happening now.” 10:52:30 AM 6/09/06 “Save the children!” 11:21:00 AM 6/09/06 “"Do you have a way to make up the difference" violin 8:37:00 AM 6/09/06 So I guess your point here is that it doesn't matter if it's fair, moral or whatever... just that "That's the way it is & we don't know how to make up the diference"” 11:39:25 AM 6/09/06 “You might come away with that impression if you're only capable of reading one sentence out of four.” 11:41:56 AM 6/09/06 “Rich republicans BAD. Rich democrats GOOD.” 11:43:37 AM 6/09/06 “Rich Little GREAT Nixon impression.” 11:58:17 AM 6/09/06 “If Matt taxed us everytime somebody posted something stupid on this site, he'd also be up in arms about the death tax, cuz he'd be one rich sum#&%!$. Errr...Matt, I guess I now owe you 5˘ for this post.” 12:06:00 PM 6/09/06 “Now you owe 10.” 12:09:11 PM 6/09/06 “I've read a lot from some of you guys about the Founder's intent. From Jefferson: I considered 4 of these bills, passed or reported, as forming a system by which every fibre would be eradicated of antient or future aristocracy; and a foundation laid for a government truly republican. The repeal of the laws of entail would prevent the accumulation and perpetuation of wealth in select families, and preserve the soil of the country from being daily more & more absorbed in Mortmain. The abolition of primogeniture, and equal partition of inheritances removed the feudal and unnatural distinctions which made one member of every family rich, and all the rest poor, substituting equal partition, the best of all Agrarian laws. http://press-pubs.uchicago.edu/founders/documents/v1ch4s7.html” 12:12:23 PM 6/09/06 “Violin - Where in there does he say he wants the wealth to be distributed to the government?” 12:48:27 PM 6/09/06 “And where is it he says he wants all posts to be italicized?” 1:05:44 PM 6/09/06 “LOL! Busted! Jane, get me off of this crazy thing!! last edited: 6/09/06 1:08:13 PM” 1:06:36 PM 6/09/06 “So... Violin... please respond without popsting any links or quotes to other sources... I have a question, just try to answer as "Violin" if it's possible for you to actually have an opinion of your own.... Do you think people should be taxed twice for what they earn? Yes, or No. It's a simple question, just give us a simple answer. Yes, or No?” 5:09:09 PM 6/09/06 “and please answer my question too Violin. You can use links or quotes if you have to.” 5:19:31 PM 6/09/06 “Sarge, you shouldn't pick on poor Violin like that! It's not HIS fault that he has such low self-esteem and such a low belief in his ability that he will never be a successful, positive contributor to society! That he has to espouse socialist philosophies that "take care of even the weakest" speaks volumes about hos own self-identity! Let's let him continue to fight for his socialist beliefs, I mean, after all, he is, apparantly, among the weakest members of society since he has NO confidence in his own abilities but must rely upon government "equalizing". Let's be a little more sensitive to the needs of the needy... OK Sarge?” 5:39:31 PM 6/09/06 “He's a liberal. Of course he thinks we should be taxed twice. He'd probably be all for a third tax if they could just figure out how to do it. LOL!” 5:44:50 PM 6/09/06 “You're right, DNB. He needs all the help society can heap upon him. He obviouly believes he is incapable of taking care of himself, or he wouldn't be asking society to pay his tabs for him, so let's do all we can to perpetuate the "reliance upon Mommy Government" myth so that poor Violin is comfortable in his "depend upon everyone else" "take no self-responsibility" approach to life. I feel sorry for people who think they have no control over their own life. That must be hell... I am all for helping those poor souls! (Did I mention my support for mental health counseling for them?)” 5:52:50 PM 6/09/06 “Aw come on guys. Do you guys know Violin? I mean, do you really know him? I'd like to give him the benefit of the doubt. Perhaps he is not one of those who has NO confidence in his own abilities and must rely upon government "equalizing". Perhaps, ... now this is just a hypothesis, but perhaps he's one of those uber-rich socialists who feels guilty because they didn't really work hard to be where they are, and out of incredible guilt, have decided to use the government as a crutch to redistribute their wealth (minus the deductions and loopholes, of course).” 5:58:56 PM 6/09/06 “You're right, Sarge. Maybe I'm being an over-generalizing ultra-rightie here. OK... I'll start over. Hey, VioLin! Nice to meet another backpacker, just like me, posting on a Backpacking bulletin board! Let's plan a trip! I'm "assuming" you'e a backpacker, right? When can we get together? I've led a ton of trips in the Sierra over the years... would you like to come out here & see "God's Country"? I know a lot of good trout streams / lakes... we could have a blast!! OK... so maybe you're not a backpacker! Maybe you just hang out at websites, kinda' like a pedophile looking for little kids. Whatever.. Let's come up with some other way to communicate!” 6:09:30 PM 6/09/06 “I don't hear a word about spending, or, is that the democrats and third parties that did all of it over the last 5 1/2 years. Starve the beast of government is a great idea, but you've forgotten to cut off the three main beast. Hope they saved the carrier banner for Al Frankenawi's wake.” 10:12:04 PM 6/09/06 “I have to laugh at all this talk of the "death tax" being unfair. First off, tye very rich have excellent ways of avoiding taxes. Secondly lots of money gets taxed twice, we pay sales tax and income tax in most places. We pay social security tax, federal income tax, State tac...etc. We buy a house with after tax money and then we pay property tax. Rich folks are great at tax acoidance and have gotten huge breaks. An inheritance tax had a lot of early support in the history of this country because it helped reduce the power of an aristocracy of inherited wealth - a laudible goal IMHO.” 3:31:10 PM 6/11/06 “/i last edited: 6/11/06 3:41:48 PM” 3:40:56 PM 6/11/06 “[/i] How does violin manage to screw up a thread this badly? last edited: 6/11/06 3:44:02 PM” 3:42:18 PM 6/11/06 “ last edited: 6/11/06 3:55:42 PM” 3:54:04 PM 6/11/06 “nope, but this oughta work! ![]() last edited: 6/11/06 3:56:22 PM” 3:54:29 PM 6/11/06 “LOL Pedx, I think we are working against each other trying to fix this.” 3:56:47 PM 6/11/06 “you need to put the command in these things: ><” 3:57:05 PM 6/11/06 LOL Stove! “Yeah, you thought you fixed it because mine came out OK - but that was becaue I had tried putting it in the <'s and that did the job. You did confuse the heck out of me, so I had to back and re-check to make sure that's what was happening. Stove, I hope you're having a decent evening. I'm actually at work, but there is nothing to do... things are dead, dead, dead. last edited: 6/11/06 4:00:43 PM” 3:58:19 PM 6/11/06 “The pisser is, I did put in "<"/i">" and it didn't work. last edited: 6/11/06 4:04:04 PM” 4:02:03 PM 6/11/06 “” 4:53:55 AM 6/12/06 ““I have to laugh at all this talk of the "death tax" being unfair. I mean as long as we're sticking it to someone else and they can afford it, then it's got to be okay. And of course none of us utilize tax write-offs or loopholes, only rich people do. This thread makes me laugh. Q: Who sucks, yet we all want to be one of them? A: Rich people!” 5:53:07 AM 6/12/06 “ ”7:13:05 AM 6/12/06 Jump to Page << prev
