This A's team was in at the start of the American League, managed by Connie Mack for 50 years. His sons screwed everything up. The Philly fans, as they often do, got screwed out of a good franchise.

The A's still have more championships in Philadelphia than the Phillies. There is still a Philadelphia A's Historical Society here, and they have well-attended reunions every year with old A's players showing up to tell stories and sign autographs.”

“They just showed a Stephen King interview on NESN (New England Sports Network). Pretty entertaining! He was teaching at the University of Maine in 1986, and cancelled his classes for a week after the Red Sox lost the World Series because he was too depressed. Perhaps it made him write darker, more sinister novels? If that's the case, his alleged retirement couldn't have come at a better time. The Red Sox will take it all this year, and it might have really thrown him off.”
