So, the big question: with a two games to none lead, how will the Sox manage to blow it this year?

Maybe they'll bring back Buckner as a first base coach or something?

Go Cards! Have to go for the home team but it would be nice to see the Sox win one. It would also be funny to see them choke again on the last out of game seven. Muuuhaahaaaa!!

LMAO @ Pedxing!

One win away. I don't think the BoSox will choke like those putzes the Yankees did. Just need one more win. One more win... one more win......

Congrats, Boston.

Boy, it sucks to be a Cards fan today. I'd rather be at home with some beer, but nooooo, I'm at the office.

Our Papi, Who art in Fenway
Hallowed by thy team.
Thou kicketh ass,
On Yankee grass,
And at home, as you did in the Bronx.

Give us this year our shiny rings,
And forgive us our talk of curses,
As we forgive those who talk of curses against us.

And lead us not into extra innings,
But deliver us from choking.

For thou art the Schilling,
And the Pedro,
And the D-Lowe,
For ever and ever.

Damon.

We're feeling pretty optimistic in Boston, although half of us have this nagging feeling that this is the ultimate set-up for even greater humiliation as the Cards sweep the next four and the Sox commit even more errors. The other half are are still worried that the Yankees will find some way to reclaim the ALCS title and we'll be sent home as the Yankees finish off the Cards.

LOL @ Pedxing! That prayer is rich!

I predict the Sox will lose tonight, but will win it tomorrow. Just a hunch.

Artex

Getting old is what people do, unless they take an early out.

I guess I'm pulling for the Dead Sox, although I have no reason. Maybe it's the curse and the fact that this improbable band of idiots plays ball the old school way, ... as much for the joy of it as the money.

It's also kind of neat to see Rolen and the Cruds with those looks of shock on their faces as things come unravelled.

The Sox need to sweep. If they let the Cruds get a foot in the door, it will raise the old spectre of THE CURSE!

Ramirez picked a perfect time to make a stellar fielding play. Somebody has to tell that guy that when you screw up a play as bad as he does, you need to hold your glove in front of your face and look to see where the hole is. That's sandlot etiquette 101!

It would be kinda cool if the Cards won a game or two in the series. makes it a bit more exciting. :)

No need to duck and run yam. I just think it would be neat to see the look on Scotty's face as he watches the Sox cavort on his home field after getting swept.

Tim McCarver did note that it was bad karma for the Cruds' bullpen catcher to be sweeping the dirt with a broom. That was my first thought before McCarver said a word. Oops!

Downeasters don't make people duck and run. They just wait till they leave and then crack jokes about them behind their backs.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

I want a sweep. However, if it goes to game six, my daughter gets a free ticket from England to Boston and a free ticket to the game. She feels pretty guilty rooting for a Red Sox loss or two.
I hear a sweeper in the background.

Arrrrrgggghhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!
Artex and Yam USED to be 2 of my best friends.

In some sense, returning to Fenway and winning the series there would be fitting, but there's no way my nerves could take losing the next 2 games. Besides, I want to go packin this weekend.

btw - for those who don't know, my qualifications as a nail biting Sox fan are as follows: born in Lowell, Mass where we went to Fenway many many times. Moved to Joisy in the summer of '67 when I was a young lad. YES, in the middle of the '67 season! The Impossible Dream, Yaz and the Triple Crown, Lonborg's Cy Young. My older brother and I were sick to be away from it all.

Hey Ped, that prayer is awesome! Is that yours?

:( I can't believe what I'm seeing. It doesn't seem possible. How are the Cardinals getting swept? After dominating like they did the entire season, I just don't get it. The Redsox can't seem to do any wrong and the Cards can't seem to do any right. :(

I wonder - when I was a little kid in 1967, totally bummed that the Sox lost game seven of the world series to the Cards would I have been relieved to know that I would live to see the Sox take a World Series by sweeping the Cards, or bummed to know it would take 37 more years?

THE CURSE IS REVERSED!!!
Well, what's a fan to say but WOW! In a sweep, no less. (Yankees suck!) Congratulations, all you long-suffering Red Sox fans. (Yankees suck!) Ped, you wouldn't have believed it would take that long. That's what I think. (Yankees suck!)
Anyway, getting rid of the billy goat would be nice, but next year it's the GIANTS turn. It's been since I was born for that storied team. Barry will break the record, I will get to a game in SF for the first time since I had seasons tickets at the Stick, and the GIANTS will win the series.

By the way, did I mention which team sucks?
