How many replays did they show of the first pitch of the game?! Geez, if you have something relevant to add, say something, but it's not like we've never seen a game! I never thought I'd say anyone was worse at this than Joe Morgan, but McCarver is exactly that! SHUT UP!!!” 9:43:52 AM 10/23/06 “(I guess BowderGuy is not one of the guys Joe Buck meets in the hotel in that over-done commercial.)” 12:26:40 PM 10/23/06 “kenny rodgers is a cheater!!!” 9:03:27 PM 10/23/06 “Then again, he gave up one hit in the first inning with the crud on his hand. Then, after having to wash off his hand, gave up no hits for 6 of the 7 other innings he pitched. So I'm sure the Tigers are saying, "Gee, thanks Mr. LaRussa for pointing that out!"” 10:59:34 PM 10/23/06 “It was dirt! The announcers and media are anti-Detroit!! The man's always trying to keep us down. ;) I have a friend who paid $1,000 to sit 14 seats behind home base during Sunday's game. I'm glad he got a good game.” 6:11:20 AM 10/24/06 “Well he's still and A-hole. HA!! :)” 7:18:37 AM 10/24/06 “Interesting Chevy ads tonight, celebrating Latinos' contributions to society. The first one was all in Spanish, with subsequent ones adding some English each time. Nice.” 9:22:07 PM 10/24/06 “By the time these games start, I'm already starting to nod off. Or maybe it's the half hour of mindless Faux Sports News prattle that tranquilizes me. Yes, Kevin Kennedy, the media sucks. Get over it!” 8:09:42 AM 10/25/06 “Looks like the Giants have hired Padres manager Bruce Bochy to guide them. Discuss.” 10:21:43 AM 10/27/06 “1 game to go for the Cards !!!!” 10:26:55 AM 10/27/06 That's a Winner!!! “Ty called me up Thurs night after game 4 and asked me what I was doing Friday night. I knew what he was up to. I told him to find me some tickets and we'd go. He came through. I did NOT bring my good camera equipment. I was afraid that with security issues and such that they might not let me in with it. So, I just brought my little Powershot 700. It post just a couple pics of interest. Ty did all the camera work. You HAVE to click on the video. It is NOT ESPN quality by any measure but you will def get a feel for the emotions of the last pitch. I was there and the video is still cool. The last pitch and let the madness begin!!! ---click on link or image for video--- http://s19.photobucket.com/albums/b186/ChinMusicIHSS/Baseball/WS/?action=view¤t=ws2.flv View from our seats. ![]() Just hadda add this one.....heheh [b]last edited: 10/29/06 11:26:55 AM” 11:25:14 AM 10/29/06 “I'm a huge lifetime Cardinals fan and ended up camping as they won the world series. I was 5 the last time they won and I don't really remember Ozzie's first season as a redbird or Lonnie stealing home or anything, but I love my Cardinals and I am so happy they won!!! I knew when they beat the Mets, something was in the air! A little add note, isn't it interesting that St. Louis is the number one most dangerous city in the US, followed by none other than Detroit? last edited: 10/30/06 10:48:59 PM” 10:48:38 PM 10/30/06 “Dang it, I linked to the wrong video. THIS is the one for the last pitch: http://s19.photobucket.com/albums/b186/ChinMusicIHSS/Baseball/WS/?action=view¤t=ws.flv” 11:05:54 PM 10/30/06 “Talked with a San Diego fan today - he said Bochy is a great manager that was popular with the fans. It's the front office that wanted him out. Their loss. Our gain....” 11:55:57 PM 10/30/06 “So much for having the A's 5 minutes from my doorstep.... They announced officially today that they're moving to Fremont. That's about 20 miles away. By freeway, it means about 2 hours (ha ha ha! Um, maybe not...). The site is not near any existing BART station, although it's about a half mile from a proposed station on the proposed extension. No indication whether there'll be any kind of shuttle or whatever....” 1:53:46 PM 11/14/06 “That's the price you pay for rooting for the A's. They went off and left us too, the floozies!” 8:55:56 AM 11/15/06 “Rumor has it that they're going to be called The San Jose Athletics of Fremont....” 9:54:10 AM 11/15/06 “that's lame.. when do they announce MVP and Cy Young awards?” 11:00:01 AM 11/15/06 “Nat'l League Cy Young announced yesterday: Brandon Webb of the D-backs. 16-8, 3.10 ERA. Speaking of lame....” 12:52:29 PM 11/15/06 “Trust me on this one BowlderDude, you're a lot closer to Fremont than we were to Kansas City, or Oakland for that matter.” 1:26:21 PM 11/15/06 Golly gosh gee shucks “Ryan Howard NL MVP. Sweet!” 10:07:13 AM 11/21/06 “Maybe the Flyers should sign him. ;-)” 10:11:15 AM 11/21/06 “He may be big and slow, but Ryan runs the bases faster than the Flutters skate these days. People with season tickets are staying home after paying for the seats. The six people who do show up only do it to drink beer and boo. I can't even watch them on TV. I mean it's one thing to live and die with your team, but after they're dead and gone there's not much point in hanging around the cemetery. I think the Waddles just come here for practice skates now. Unfortunately, their practice skates take place after the opening whistle.” 11:47:54 AM 11/21/06 “Ryan Howard, by the way, is a down-to-earth guy who has a deep appreciation and respect for the game and the people who played it. He's the exact opposite of the "Gimme Mine Now" greedy players. When the time comes for Ryan to make a lot of money, he will be worth it.” 11:49:48 AM 11/21/06 “...or "Ron" Howard, as the Philly mayor referred to him multiple times during the ceremony celebrating his award, as reported on our local radio station this morning. Oops!” 9:37:21 AM 11/22/06 “You mean Mayor Dead End Street???” 2:17:31 PM 11/22/06 “The radio guys were commenting that they did seem to remember Opie had a lot of potential during the Mayberry RFD days....” 4:13:25 PM 11/22/06 “sfgate.com is reporting that Barry Zito and the Gigantes have reached a deal for 126 mile over 5 years.... Wow, Sabean actually went out and signed somebody. Will wonders never cease?” 12:33:57 PM 12/28/06 “It's on espn.com too. I guess this means he won't meet the Rangers' deadline.” 3:18:45 PM 12/28/06 “Oops, it's over 7 years, so average of 18 mil per.... Given the Giants' luck with long-term contracts, he'll probably pull a hamstring running over to cover first in the first week or two of the season. Um, well, that's been done already by another high salary pitcher; it'll have to be something else....” 5:00:14 PM 12/28/06 “That's what happens with the Phutiles too. Good gawd, long term contracts are scary. We had one pitcher who spent a whole year on the DL and left. Nobody remembers his name anymore.” 8:14:55 AM 12/29/06 “48 days” 1:52:25 PM 12/29/06 Trip Report “BowlderSon and I went over to the Oakland Coliseum for the A's "Fan Fest" on Saturday. They open up the ballpark and let people wander around, plus offer autograph sessions (for an extra 15 bucks!) and tours of the clubhouse (5 bucks) and some other stuff, too. Proceeds go to a couple of charitable organizations. When we got there, the line to get into the ballpark was literally all the way around the stadium. I commented, "If half of these people would actually go to a game, the A's would be rich!" Well, there was another entrance with a line about 10% as long, so it didn't take too long to get in. We went down onto the field (still marked for football) and walked around a bit. Then we found the line to get into the clubhouse. It took a while, but we finally made it down to the entrance tunnel. Surprise - Bobby Kielty showed up and just started signing stuff. So much for having to pay 15 bucks for an autograph. B-Son had him sign his hat and then Kielty happily posed for a photo. Once inside the clubhouse, we took a few pics of the lockers, etc., and pitcher Chad Gaudin was there and happily signed B-Son's hat, too. Then we went out through the A's dugout before heading home. It was fun! When you have the Giants right there, why waste your time on the green and yeller? Anyway, it's good to hear that an athlete had the heart to meet the fans. Put this one in the books! The Royals will lose less than 100 games this season. You can go to Vegas with that one. Seriously, though, the management has seen fit to deal for some decent pitching, and I'm going to award them by buying a season ticket package with a friend. We will be there on opening day. Look for me on TV.” 5:59:28 PM 1/29/07 “10” 8:22:51 AM 2/05/07 “I gotta remember to download all my son's games into the PDA...can't miss em. LOL did I mention my son made the High School baseball team...(hey these guys are either state or close to state every year)” 9:06:27 AM 2/05/07 “Cool, XL! My neighbor across the street is the coach of one of our city's high school teams - they won the section last year after being seeded 8th out of 8 teams in the post season. His son is now a senior and is a super player (great kid, too). He had a tryout with UCLA a couple weeks ago - haven't heard how it went yet....” 9:34:33 AM 2/05/07 “A week from today” 12:37:55 PM 2/08/07 “Yeppers. Time to oil up the ol mitt.” 2:30:48 PM 2/08/07 “Last 2 words of the National Anthem...Play Ball.” 2:36:28 PM 2/08/07 “On the Kennedy Dibble show on XM radio last night, they called Scrap Iron on his cell phone. He was in a limo on his way to an appearance with Carlos Lee, and the limo driver got the car stuck in a ditch just when they made contact with him. Talk about funny. So Scrap Iron starts telling them about it, and the driver tells Scrap Iron he has to get out of the limo, which he does. The driver gets a tractor driver to pull the limo out of the ditch. Traffic is backed up on the road while all this is going on. "Let's talk baseball," Scrap Iron tells Kennedy and Dibble. So they do an interview until the limo gets pulled out of the ditch and they're on their way to their appearance. Funniest damn radio interview I ever heard! last edited: 2/08/07 2:40:43 PM” 2:40:06 PM 2/08/07 “Six and a wake-up.” 5:28:25 PM 2/08/07 “6” 9:19:56 AM 2/09/07 “Yeah, it must be almost baseball season: it finally started raining around here! BTW, BowlderSon decided to skip playing baseball this year and play soccer instead. He likes baseball better as a sport, but the a-hole grownups that run the league and play all their ridiculous political games made it so it wasn't fun for him any more. The corresponding environment in our local soccer club is the total opposite of that - it's like a dream come true the way they run things.” 9:43:05 AM 2/09/07 “That's sad, just sad. But it does get silly, and sometimes beyond silly. We've had adults get into fights and worse. Fine examples for the kids. Some of these jerks need to be tied to a tree and told it's for the kids, not them. It was better when the kids organized pick-up games themselves in the afternoon and the adults were still working. Pop would come home and the kid would say "we won," and pop would say, "Great!" Or the kid would say "we lost," and pop would say, "Jeez, sorry kid!"” 12:21:52 PM 2/09/07 “Yep --- 'crazed' is the word I'd use, [sigh] Augusta Greenjackets home opener: Monday, April 9, 7:05 pm vs the Savannah Sand Gnats. Single A all the way! (it's like a rerun of Bull Durham every night, VBG)” 3:26:00 PM 2/09/07 “3” 11:25:29 AM 2/12/07 “Tomorrow is the big day.” 9:16:11 AM 2/14/07 Jump to Page << prev
