Hold down the control button when you click on one cookie then allow the mouse to travel down the list as it selects all or some of the cookies. Then delete them

Highlight all, then try holding shift and press the delete key. Note: They won't go to recycle bin

Also, try dumping your temp internet files first, since there are cookie pointers in there

Cookies in use?
It won't let you delete something that is in-use, if you select all of them at once, some may still be in use, which is why you're getting that message. Try to select / delete them in chunks, 50 or so files at a time. You can also sort on "Last Access Date", and then delete those you haven't visited for awhile. This might speed up the process considerably.

Uh if your selling the pc you should reformat the drive and re-install the os from scratch. Its the only way to get rid of everything incriminating...

ps if its really incriminating install a new hard drive and destroy the old one.

How do you destroy a hard drive? With a sledge hammer?

The CIA recommends sulfuric or nitric acid bath, until the hard drive is completely dissolved. If I wanted to completely destroy a hard drive, so that it could never be read again, I'd disassemble it, take the platters, and rinse or immerse them in some strong acid until all the oxide had been removed, then I'd cut them into little pieces.

If cia level isnt needed just bending them or marring the surface will put it beyond reach of most retrival equipment

Isn't there a way to do this through DOS. I heard a radio program where they were talking about accessing files through the computer's disc operating system.

There should be....

I know what the dos prompt is to delete temp internet files and history, but not cookies
