Cheap Down Jacket!!

Addresses are public domain. Not expiring a session and displaying an address is at best a file transfer corruption or server burp and at worse poor QA testing or poor coding.

You can doubt me all you want but I have worlds more experience in the ecommerce arena working on enterprise level systems than you. Perhaps you've heard of my clients? MSN, AOL, Citigroup ect. My last gig was pushing $500,000 of internet money transfers per day using virtual credit cards and I delt with fraud all day long.

I would agree with you caloling the paper if they were not validating form field lengths and were open to SQL buffer overrun attacks or not escaping special characters such as #<$&% and opening themselves to cross site scripting attacks or not closing open ports and opening themself to back door tunneling attacks but that is not the case here.

Once again, it's the scale of the issue. This one is on par with a typo.

It was discovered and fixed in under two and a half hours and that is lightening fast by anyones standard. Actually twice as fast as Citigroup technology and they push a mind boggling amount of money an hour.

I realize you're a programmer, etc. I realize you know way more than I do about computers. I realize there is also a tendency to want to protect the people in your own profession, whatever it might be. Because you can understand how if something is screwed up, thank goodness it's them that did it, not you.

We don't know if it's a big deal or not. It happened and got mentioned on this public board. I am trying to see if there is reason for this to be investigated... to maybe find out if it was a way larger problem that was imagined by people here. (And did I mention people here were definitely worried and concerned? Oh yeah, go to the beginning and read the posts.)

We don't know what goes on in private businesses. This error became public. I for one would like to know if it was just a small glitch that was easily remedied. I would like to know information about people was not compromised. Wouldn't you? You may suspect that's the case, you may ask them, but do you know that's the case?

Again, I don't know computers. Perhaps it's set up for someone in the company to scam information in some way. The equivalent of embezzling. I would rather find out if that's the case or not.


I'm sure Land's End would rather deal with something internally than admit to its public it screwed up. Or that it screwed up in a minor fashion, yes, but it has been taken care of. As I said, perhaps some other programmer/company can learn something from it and the problem be avoided again.

There are a lot of issues that could surface. People here were very concerned and worried. That is very, very evident in the first posts. Sure you called them, they said, "Oops, we'll fix that." But who else did it affect over the course of yearly business operations?

It deserves at least a few questions posed to Land's End.
