“"It was wierd. I woke up and heard what sounded like little feet running up one side of the tent and a swooshing sound down the other side. I thought, "I must be going crazy, because that can't be what is happening!" I crawled out of the tent, not entirely happy to be awake at that hour, flashed my light around the campsite, and saw nothing but a red squirrel in a tree. I crawled back into the tent, back into the sack, and was just drifting off when it started again. This time I crawled out of the tent, walked a few yards away, and sat down on a rock with the light off. I waited and waited until I heard the sound again and caught the little son of a beyitch in the beam as he was sliding down the tent. The little $hit was using my tent as a slide. I threw a rock at him and crawled back into the sack, so exhausted I didn't hear him the rest of the night. Probably a distant cousin of Psycho. Those red squirrels in the Daks are trouble, though. They slide down the nylon rope of the food bag and nibble into Gorp bags. But unlike Psycho devouring tomatoes, they don't eat much." Geobeet 02:14:08 PM 02/19/03 I would like to try and understand my friend a little bit more if only I could understand why Rodents have a problem with Geobeet. Any ideas as to why they hate him so?” 2:17:57 PM 2/19/03 “Hate me? I feed them, provide a playground for them, give up the best years of my life for them, and they hate me? Jeez!” 2:22:50 PM 2/19/03 “In any event, at least my animal troubles are with live animals!” 2:24:30 PM 2/19/03 “And I suppose I could be wrong, but at least Geo has avoided being attacked by uneaten food...” 2:25:26 PM 2/19/03 “no this will not turn into a Bashing maple thread. nice try there geopooh. now back to "why rodents hate geobeet"” 2:26:35 PM 2/19/03 “Because you told them to, ML?” 2:27:45 PM 2/19/03 “You are operating on a false assumption. Rodents don't hate me. I support them. I should be able to claim them as tax deductions.” 2:29:43 PM 2/19/03 “oh man that link Ohh lala is funny stuff!!!” 3:03:02 PM 2/19/03 “ ![]() Geobeet's Dream Girl or Nightmare?” 3:07:00 PM 2/19/03 “Looks to me like a GF for Kleetn's Squirrel. Psycho is gray! He doesn't wear no fru fru bikini!” 3:25:00 PM 2/19/03 “All this from a woman who sees dead turkeys, ... just before they whomp her in the head!” 3:25:59 PM 2/19/03 “:" the fact that geobeet is a total sucker four kinky squirrel porno spam. arf arf arf. ewe no why? because it's really hard for a squirrel two run fast in high heels. har har har." I got up one morning very early, and I sat drinking my coffee and watching the squirrel try to get at the neighbors birdfeeder. It was so funny because what the little buggers didnt know was that the day before the guy put what i think was either Oil or something very slippery on the pole. (its one of those feeders that stand upright on top of a long pole) So I sat there watching the squirrels ran as fast as they could and try to jump upto the top of the feeder. but they kept missing it and would land on the pole and slide down. I think i woke up treebeard laughing so hard. they just kept doing it over and over again. to bad i didnt get it on tape.” 2:40:44 PM 2/20/03 “see they're just tree rats! - take away that fluff on the tail and you've got a nut-eating rat! We're overrun with them in DC, I saw a particularly mean looking one chasing a cat the other day” 2:43:29 PM 2/20/03 “red squirrels are the worst..they'll fight about anything and chase much bigger grey squirrels, who are easily intimidated, away..plus, red squirrels are very noisy..hm-m-m-squirrel kabob..” 2:46:57 PM 2/20/03 “Geo can have her, she's too freaky for me. Makes a fella fear for his nuts.” 2:48:12 PM 2/20/03 “OMG YOUR BACK. HOLY SHYYIIITTT you were missed, so how was your vacation down south, meet any juicy red hot (oh get your mind out of the gutter) tomtatos?” 2:49:34 PM 2/20/03 “It was nice thank you. Got in a little beach time, little salsa dacing, a little salsa too, you know, snow-squirrel stuff. Oh and there was this spicy little number down around South Beach, Yikes. She'd turn a squirrel to drink! Man am I ready for spring. Yo Geo! How's the garden growing? Look like a good year?” 2:53:21 PM 2/20/03 “so any photos from your vacation?” 3:01:11 PM 2/20/03 “Well yes, but I need to get them up in my webshots page. Could take a little time.” 3:03:14 PM 2/20/03 “Is a ferret a rodent?” 3:21:20 PM 2/20/03 “nooooooooooooooooooooo... the modern Domestic Ferret: Order: Carnivora Family: Mustelidae Species: Mustela furo Contrast the Eastern Grey Squirrel: Order: Rodentia Family: Sciuridae Species: Sciurus carolinensis” 3:49:45 PM 2/20/03 more: “http://www.florilegium.org/files/ANIMALS/ferrets-msg.text The word ferret (Mustela furo) is usually used to describe a domesticated (often albino) polecat (Mustela putorius). There are all types of weasels of varying sizes. For more fun, look into the mink and the related martens (genus Martes), sable (M. zibellina), fisher and Pekan. Also related (members of the family Mustelidae) are the skunk, otter, badger and wolverine, et al. The main source of trouble is that these are somewhat generic terms used for many different related species. It could be what Duane Brocious thinks of as an ermine, is one of the smaller weasels that change coat. My dictionary says, and "Larousse Encyclopedia of Animal Life" confirms, the following: Ermine -- Any of several weasels that assume white winter pelage usually with more or less black on the tail esp. a large European weasel (Mustela erminea). Ferret -- A partially domesticated usu. albino European polecat that is sometimes classed as a separate species (Mustela furo) and is usually used esp. for hunting rodents. Polecat -- A European carnivorous mammal (Mustela (or Putorius) putorius) of which the ferret is considered a domesticated variety. Stoat -- Ermine; A weasel with a black-tipped tail -- used esp. of an animal in the brown summer coat.” 4:34:05 PM 2/20/03 “Contrast the Eastern Grey Squirrel: Order: Rodentia Family: Sciuridae Species: Sciurus carolinensis" Tilt 03:49:45 PM 02/20/03 Don't you mean Scurrilous carolinensis?” 4:53:36 PM 2/20/03 “It's always fun to surprise backpacking buddies by letting nature's creatures - like squirrels, ferrets and polecats - into their tent while they're away. The look of delight on thier face when they descover the little intruders is reward enough for your efforts.” 4:58:23 PM 2/20/03 “Send them to camp at my place and we'll put tomatoes in the tent. Psycho and his buddies will take care of the rest, no questions asked. Psycho's tomato patch is about two feet down right now. I'm hoping his frozen cadaver will appear as the snow melts.” 5:01:49 PM 2/20/03 “Geo- I suspect your not going to get your wish, it appears not only is he warm but has a t-1 connection as well.” 2:39:55 AM 2/21/03 “Geo has always been a sucker for bushy tails :>)” 2:54:12 AM 2/21/03 “#$*@%$# Squirrel!” 8:45:54 AM 2/21/03 9:24:11 AM 2/21/03 9:27:07 AM 2/21/03 9:28:03 AM 2/21/03 “KNOCK IT OFF SQUIRREL, im trying to save your little neck!!! ok try this. the best way to catch a squirrel” 9:29:31 AM 2/21/03 “Memo to self: Stop by Home Depot tonight.
