“"It was wierd. I woke up and heard what sounded like little feet running up one side of the tent and a swooshing sound down the other side. I thought, "I must be going crazy, because that can't be what is happening!"

I crawled out of the tent, not entirely happy to be awake at that hour, flashed my light around the campsite, and saw nothing but a red squirrel in a tree. I crawled back into the tent, back into the sack, and was just drifting off when it started again.

This time I crawled out of the tent, walked a few yards away, and sat down on a rock with the light off. I waited and waited until I heard the sound again and caught the little son of a beyitch in the beam as he was sliding down the tent. The little $hit was using my tent as a slide. I threw a rock at him and crawled back into the sack, so exhausted I didn't hear him the rest of the night.

Probably a distant cousin of Psycho.

Those red squirrels in the Daks are trouble, though. They slide down the nylon rope of the food bag and nibble into Gorp bags. But unlike Psycho devouring tomatoes, they don't eat much."

I would like to try and understand my friend a little bit more if only I could understand why Rodents have a problem with Geobeet.

Any ideas as to why they hate him so?”

I got up one morning very early, and I sat drinking my coffee and watching the squirrel try to get at the neighbors birdfeeder.

It was so funny because what the little buggers didnt know was that the day before the guy put what i think was either Oil or something very slippery on the pole.
(its one of those feeders that stand upright on top of a long pole)
So I sat there watching the squirrels ran as fast as they could and try to jump upto the top of the feeder. but they kept missing it and would land on the pole and slide down. I think i woke up treebeard laughing so hard.

The word ferret (Mustela furo) is usually used to describe a domesticated (often albino) polecat (Mustela putorius). There are all types of weasels of varying sizes. For more fun, look into the mink and the related martens (genus Martes), sable (M. zibellina), fisher and Pekan. Also related (members of the family Mustelidae) are the skunk, otter, badger and wolverine, et al.

The main source of trouble is that these are somewhat generic terms used for many different related species. It could be what Duane Brocious thinks of as an ermine, is one of the smaller weasels that change coat. My dictionary says, and "Larousse Encyclopedia of Animal Life" confirms, the following:

Ermine -- Any of several weasels that assume white winter pelage usually with more or less black on the tail esp. a large European weasel (Mustela erminea).

Ferret -- A partially domesticated usu. albino European polecat that is sometimes classed as a separate species (Mustela furo) and is usually used esp. for hunting rodents.

Polecat -- A European carnivorous mammal (Mustela (or Putorius) putorius) of which the ferret is considered a domesticated variety.

Stoat -- Ermine; A weasel with a black-tipped tail -- used esp. of an animal in the brown summer coat.”
