“Are these any good? crampon it says " Requires a rigid boot with full-length steel shank " What does that mean?” 8:54:20 PM 2/19/03 “my montrail torres have a half steel shank in them and the crampons say a full steel shank. will these work together?” 9:03:06 PM 2/19/03 “I own them..... ....the fit well.. ..in between my hiking boots and running shoes. Haven't used them yet. Ask Amy G or Corperal Nasty. They have them.” 9:21:55 PM 2/19/03 “Never mind, now that they link works I own a different moddle. I believe a strong sole would be needed for crampons like that. Those have lots of flex, mine are very ridged so a soft boot is fine.” 9:27:32 PM 2/19/03 “Those crampons have step-in bindings and can only be used with boots designed for such bindings. Also, step-in bindings will pop off a boot thet is not rigid enough. They are probably on special because people don't use them any more because of pop-off problems. The most popular bindings now are hybrid with a front strap system of some kind and a step-in heel piece.” 2:09:16 PM 2/20/03
