They do it at the PACK RAT!
The Pack Rat in Fayetteville, Arkansas will take your old "empty" cannisters and recycle them. If you are interested they'll describe the process and tell you where the steel even goes. At least that is there claim to fame in their latest newsletter.

Did I mention their Spring sale starts this Sunday at 1:00? Well it does....

Now for you cannister holds out..go stimulate the economy.

That said, has anyone used the Vaude Hot Rod? It is the same weight and 1/2 the price of the Peak Titanium cannister stove. Which puts it down there in $ with the majority of the lightweight stoves.

3 oz
$50

Who sells them in the US?

Northern Mountain has them here.

Not to criticize, but I found this by going to Dogpile and typing in "Vaude Hot Rod". Search engines are great.

i never mentioned it here but i recycle All empty fuel canisters!! Mostly through THEBENCHMARK & NATURE OUTFITTERS in cincy, but will welcome ALL you can supply.

ALL canisters are used to build self efficient earthships, Homes.

Homes are built with aluminum/metal canisters and many other recycables.

email me if interested in putting canisters to good use!??

The best way to deal with empty canisters is to just bury them 200 feet or so from your camp site, about 3 feet or so down so that they don't come back up. Doing that saves you a lot of weight on your way home.
