More TTer's Needed to hike the OLP
Hey, come on everyone join jmitches Old Loggers Path hike in April. So far there are 8 people that have said yes but some are still sitting on the fence.
This hike might not have the mountains like the daks or the cats but how many times have you gotten to expolore a ghost town? Or Hike through a tunnel? Come on it will be a blast! That and you will get to meet me!

I Give OLP The Buddur Paw-Stomp Of Approval
OLP is a great 2-nighter with lots of vistas, especially this time of the year with few leaves on the trees and little overgrowth. It's a must do hike!

One thing this area does have that I really like is a suberb trout stream running right through the middle of the trail. Last June, I fished Pleasant Stream for two hours one afternoon while we were camped at Butternut Run and I had the best 2 hours of flyfishing I ever had.

For RichB, trout season is 12 months long every year. Rich knows trout I tell ya. ;-)

April 12 is opening day of trout season in PA. this year. You can fish some creeks during the extended season and almost all creeks year round if you catch and release. I used to fish in the winter, but I haven't in years because the action isn't good enough to keep me interested when it's cold out. Late April, May and June are the best months around here. Lots of bugs and good mayfly hatches.

richb are you going to bring a rod? Let me clarify that for all of the gutter minds in here. Richb are you going to bring a fishing rod?

LOLOL!!! Duh, when is this hike again?

I just got JMitch's guidebook and I'm having a wonderful time reading it and looking for legal secluded hiking and camping, as well as planning dayhikes at some of the waterfalls where no camping is allowed. It is a great book!

Lthiker, I didn't plan to do any fishing for the trip on April 5th. I just want to hike, but I do plan to return to Pleasant stream in May and June when the fishing really lights up to spend some serious time on the stream. The beginning of April is not the greatest time to fish since the creeks a generally very cold with snowmelt and few bugs have emerged then. It all depends on the weather, but with all the snow this year I expect that to be the case. Some warm afternoons toward late April can raise the water temperature enough that the fish really start moving. If any fisherman want to go back there in May and June just to fish or hang out near the stream and camp let me know because I'd like to do that this year. I only did it once last year and then after that the water got too low and warm to fish.
