Light Reading for the Trail

“I like to read a little on the trail and like to have a bit of variety but don't want the weight of multiple books, I've found these "Quick Study" guides are cool, they are packed full of info, laminated and quite light. This one about beer is probably a good starter.

I think the ones about history, literature and astronomy are my next purchases.”

“I've been thinking about this lately, as paperbacks seem to be growing larger. It seems that some publisher, somewhere ought to start printing books that are smaller, with lighter paper, simular to airmail stationary, specifically intended for backpacking. Think about it, they'd make a fortune if they chose titles carefully. "Walden" "Into thin air", "Cold Mountain"...all their publishers could clean up if they produced lighter tomes and marketed them to hikers and travelers.”
