Adirondaks InputView Messages“snowshoeing...there will be no open water for canoeing silly...” 6:45:33 PM 2/24/03 “It looks like they have plans for Siamese Pond. http://www.dec.state.ny.us/website/dlf/publands/ump/reg5/siamlett.html” 7:07:42 PM 2/24/03 “What does that mean? Have they done anything since?” 7:24:38 PM 2/24/03 “but I thought twinkle was looking to do a canoe trip? what did i miss?” 7:44:04 PM 2/24/03 “I think thats a different trip maple. At least that was my guess.” 7:51:41 PM 2/24/03 “but she was looking for info on boating sometime in June? or did I miss the boat?” 10:57:43 AM 2/25/03 “oh yeah some specifics - hehehe.... I'm trying to plan a trip for the summer - want lots of water - lakes, waterfalls, streams, etc - am toying with the idea of renting a canoe... Would like a variety of terrain (if there is no canoe involved! I can just imagine porting a canoe up a peak - yikes!) Butt-kicking in length (three days - maybe a few more than that - hmmm?) but not neccesarily looking to peak-bag....just a nice long walk in the woods." Halfway across we hit ice. We tried to line it from shore but my brother-in-law (Queensbury) decided to walk the ice. Aluminum canoes glide nicely over ice. WE got very good at running the canoe up onto the ice & off again into the water. He walked ahead but I made him hold our 'white water' trailing line. He refused to probe the spring ice with a paddle & eventually dropped thru. He actually accused me of taking pictures before I would pull him out via the rope I made him take. (the other end tied to the canoe I was dragging.)I ended up setting up camp & a fire. Spring camping on water is colder than winter. We actually had a great time even though he burned up his boots & pants. That's when he borrowed my 50/50 pants & fell in love with 50%cotton/50% synthetic clothing.” 4:31:05 PM 2/25/03
