Protecting my nuts...
Ever had a situation where you are walking towards someone and then you expect them to go left while you go right and it doesn't happen? You go the same way they do. Then you both try to reverse course and go the other way around each other? Then back again and maybe once or twice more? Until, you both feel stupid and display that nervous grin on your faces? Well, this just happened to me in Union Square Park in Manhattan. But, it was with a squirrel. I couldn't believe this little nut (ha ha). Usually, they back off and run away. This one didn't. Actually, freaked me out for a second. BTW, I have never seen morre grey squirrels in one place in my life than in that park today. Maybe that's why he was so bold. Must be an overpopulation there...

Just thought you all would like to know this.

That was probably Psycho. He got back from Florida one night and was gone by the next day. When the tomatoes come in, he'll be back here.

Unless he was hung, in which case it was Kleetn's squirrel.

Ok, the turkey story. Well, it's not overly funny, but here goes. I was cooking a 21 pounder in one of those flexible turkey pans. I took it out of the over with a dish towel in my right hand and an oven mitt on the left. The back buckled and some of the grease exited the pan and splashed onto the oven near the opening that goes down near the pilot light. Well, the oven went up like a flare and flamed up engulfing my right hand in a blazing dish towel. I had the choice of holding on and hoisting the pan up over and on top of the stove or dropping it. The lesser of two evils was to hold on and endure the burn on the heel of my hand, rather than to drop it and risk 3rd degree burns from my thighs down. Anyway, it was the most painful T-giving I ever exoerienced. Second degree burns on the hand. Thank you Maple. Just love reliving that one...

I like the story of another thankagiving,
we had a house full of people coming to dinner when treebeard had a major prob with his foot. I did feel do bad cause he was in so much pain. but off to the hospital he went, while leaving me home alone to cook a bird that i have NEVER cooked before. thank god no one died!!

we all know who's house to avoid on T-day!

Maple - did you remember to take the gizzards out?

I once cooked a turkey that tasted so bad that after everyone took two bites - into the garbage it went! No wonder they were giving it away at the supermarket!
