Snow in Southern Calif

“I can't wait until the weekend. I'm going to take the Palm Springs Tram up to 8,500 feet and then head out to play in the snow. Maybe I'll get as far as Jean Peak or Mount San Jacinto.

Anyone else want to come out and play?”

It is raining now and they expect snow down to 5000 ft. tonight in the local mountains. That is good!”

“Wingding- gonna backpack or just dayhike?? I am interested - hopefully will get my REI dividend this week and can use it for new snowshoes. Would like to try a backpack. I can freeze for one night ;-)”

“How much snow did the local mountains get? Mammoth got 4-6" and June Mountain got 14". Big difference!”

“I was in Ontario today for a seminar and the snow level got pretty low, probably 4000 feet. On the news they showed some happy skiers in Big Bear and said a "foot of fresh powder". But then they showed and talked about heavy wet snow. Not sure what to make of all that.”

“I hear that they got over a foot at the higher elevations locally with more to come before the weekend.

I'm going to plan on taking the tram on Saturday.”
