SCREW YOU RUCTGERS!!! I don't need you
Well those rat bastards rejected me to their graphic design school. Thats ok.

Once again Ice Tea's giving face techniques and name throughing have gotten him another job. Last job was the menue for the delli (I'm still eating for free). THis new job started the same way.

At a track meet I was talking to one of my team mates fathers about commercial art and pollitics, the next track meet he shows up with a bussiness associate to throw me a deal. One week later and my logo is accepted and I may have 50,000 shares coming my way with $10K for college tuition. This rocks!!!

Rutgers sent me today a letter saying that I suck. Yeah, I'll put that letter in an apendix in my autobigraphy when I am President of the US (or a megga CEO).

PS: Hey Mutt, was this luck or me just bragging about my art work every where.

Don't put all of your eggs in one basket. Manipulate the opportunities, don't let them manipulate you.

Congrats on the possible cash but don't count on anything until you have a signed contract or the check clears.

Rutgers is not a graphics school, who cares what they think about art? If you want to learn art and graphics go to a real art school.

You want to do graphic design and you are going for a MBA? Say what?

Bad move, either pick one or the other or do both. The MBA will not improve your graphics skills however a few basic business classes will help with anything.

A survey was done a few years back and it was discovered that over 75% of the top execs in the fortune 500 had fine art degrees.

Neither degree is necessary to be successful in either field.

I really don't want to go to school for art. Business, is my fancey. Yet, I did aply as an art student to most of the colleges.

Cool about the deal you may have gotten, I hope that works out for you.

Where can we see some of your art work online?

So where are ya going to school, then, Ice Tea?

Also, I'm assuming this is a real, honest-to-goodness company you're doing a logo for. I only say this because, if it were a NET company, people would be sure to tell you NOT to accept shares of a company in lieu of payment. Cuz so many on the Net go belly up.

Wow! And I don't even have an MBA, and just listen to that good advice!!! (only a little old BA here!)

Very bad move Tea.

You are going to have a rough time getting in because you are sabotaging yourself.

Art departments admit mostly on talent and not SAT scores or grades. In a lot of them you need to have the instructors approval to even sign up for a class. Art is more competitive than you think and who you know matters a great deal. In the interview they expect you to gush shamelessly over how much you love and live art and how much you really want to got to their school. Oh, and if you show up "dressed for success" (suit & tie) it's considered a bad thing. Simply submitting an app will usually result in failure.

You might think your art is all that but these schools see hundreds of folks just like you a day. Some with work inferior to yours and some with work far superior to yours. I'm not slamming your art here so don't take it that way, I've been through that process. What I'm telling you is that there is a HUGE amount of talent out there.

Business schools are all about the numbers. They will be interested in your grades, test scores and charitable works.

If you are still interested in Rutgers then you'd best re-apply to the school of business.

Many web companies went belly up because they didn't have a sound business plan not because they are a web company. I know plenty of profitable web shops. Accepting shares of ANY company is nothing more than an IOU that may or may not get paid. Get cash and retain royalties on logos if you can. All share deals I have ever been a part of ended up that I gat paid with air.

Rosey.
No it isn't.

And NO, all the .coms didn't fail. Those who were smart enough to stay out of the stock market until solvent survived.

The stock market isn't a friend to smaller companies.
