Walter Mitty, er, uh, ... Goretexx, that's it, Goretexx stands with his back to Maple Leaf. His body involuntarily shivvers. The cocked pistol feel so heavy and cold. How could it have come to this, the brave explorer who conquered K2 in Rahway, er, uh, Bhutan, that's it, Bhutan, standing back to back with the best shot if the free world?

Geezr starts counting, and Goretexx begins walking, ta-pocketa-pocketa, ta-pocketa-pocketa.

Emms...Glacier huh.....Its the easiest route, plus the 2nd most crowded....keep that in mind.....

If ya need to bump into some1 that knows the mountain well, Im good friends with the climbing rangers, and they would be more than happy to help out in that area, especially if ya show up with me, but Im already there(here), so just drop a line.....

Ya either take the offer and have an awesome time......or ya act like some of the rest here, and do it your way......

Cheers...

Proof that dorktexx lied:

I never said that I didn't want Twinkle Toes to go on a certain Catskills trip, yet you told her that I and some others did beforehand.

You adimantley insisted that you would be attending a few trips Twinkle Toes was attending just to ruin it for her. You never showed up!

Bungee jumping off the GWB while the country was at high alert, working at K2 basecamp (even though you have no idea what country it was in), mountaineering school, blah blah blah. The list goes on and on.

When you look in the mirror, what do you see? Is it a monkey wrench, screwdriver, or perhaps some other sort of tool?

By the way mate......when ya reach that level you want.....ull know what im tallking about, and its a sad thing that you will actually say " damn, these people here havent got a clue about real climbing yet" so yes its a bold statement to be willing to teach.....but ive been to the edge longer and farther than anyone here, now its time to share it with a person who really wants it. I just with everyone could see it through my eyes mate...later

Re: Mountaineers.....where have we been?
goretex Aug 16, 2002 11:18 AM
Ok, I guess ill contribute to this one since I started the bloody thread....
Started out in Australia, cause I was there 4 yrs...
Mount Kosciusko (7,310)
Mount Cook in New Zealand.(12,316)
Got into it prety heavily then after my 25th birthday, and then made an attempt at Lhotse in Tibet which was totally funded by me and 4 other mates(27,939), but was unable to continue due to bad air in the western ridge in camp #3.
Never went back for it, but someday I might..

Met up with a few old mates from Brisbane where i was living, and they got me a little job workin as a medic at (28,250) K2 basecamp at the border of China and Pakistan, ended staying there 8 months and then got sorta sick of it all, and went back to Brisbane to continue on with work as a medic there..

Came back home to the good Ol' USA and hit Rainier (14,411)aswell as Adams (12,276)....both in the same week...lol
Took a break for some training that my job required that year, and pretty much that was it until a friend in Valdez Alaska called and asked if I might be interested in a Denali attempt.... 1 month, and 20,320 later, we were done with that climb, and that was pretty much it until now...
havent been up high on a hill for a little while now, just a few peaks here on the east and thats it.

Cheers....
Zay

Ok mate...here we go...
Ive been climbing for 10 yrs now, I was born in nyc and was in the marines for 6 yrs at the age of 18, got into climbing then and travelled alot in the service and most of my platoon party was into climbing, moved to Australia, just for a new change.....got into some more high altitude climbs, lived in Nepal for 8 months, 4 of those months spent at k2 basecamp learned alot, came back to the usa....got into high peaks here, soloed Raineer, have been to Denali, Hood, and a few others, have even tried to take myself to the very edge of life in order to find my chi.
I climb 5.13c routes on reg rock and can do 5.11b on mountaineering routes. I plan on taking my final test in mt raineer in sept on my 31st bday and WILL become a guide. i have taugh alot of climbers thouout the yrs and have no problem proving it mate. I know Florida has actually no elevation 4 ur goals, however if youd like to talk further and save ur pennies as we all do, save them, and we can meet up in mt raineer or b4 to give you the biggest ride of you life mate.....Theses days i work as a medic in the FDNY fire dep and if ya wanna hang...well.....bring a winners attitude, a noice rack with ice screws aswell and a bong....later mate...

Re: Is a expensive tarp really better than cheap one?
goretex Jun 4, 2002 9:35 AM
Hmmmmmmmm Mate, sounds like ur gonna have to make a decision based on ur pocket there..... If i may say so...i camped atop Baxter peak with a $20.00 12x12 tarp, sealed the seams for 5 bucks, bought some guyline thingys to grab the material and wallaa!
No worries on the tarp ripping or weighing much, and i saved myself a few bux, plus...........it was with me throughout the AT back in 99'
later mate............

G'day Mates! Figured you could all use some light readin- Besides the fact that these posts contradict themselves in many places, my favorite part happens to be the signature. I find it a little ironic, really, seeing as our little cock-eyed buddy plays out his tragedy on the net like a thirteen year old boy pretending to be a lesbian in a chat room so he can get off. Tell us then son, if you were in the marines for 6 years, what was your military ID number? What was your MOS? What does ETS mean? Grow a pair, liar.

This stuff is really a sad, sad testamony to an immature and alas sick, individual. Goretexx took the time to find out information about some awesome mountains only in an attempt to delude and deceive other people who might have a genuine interest in the climbs.
