* This goes to point # 1:

I guess she realized that I could easily exclude her from my life and I would do what I wanted to anyway. Maybe my conversations w/ her are more important to her then to me. Well, I’ll be happy that this friendship is mending, but I will never trust her like I once did. It will be tough to put a week of hell behind me.

I won't make any judgements on your spelting, but the idea that the Scouts frown on using the internet is a joke. I have seen many scout troops with an internet presence. They post trip reports and upcomming trips and so much more.

She said something that my SM should have had me sign something when I first joined saying that I will use the net in an appropriate manor although because my troop sucks my SM never got to that. She also said that there is a form on the council’s site but I looked for 15 minutes and found nothing.

Alaska, well she said "Portobello’s" but that place has great stake, so it is self explanatory that if you go there you get a Delmonico stake.

"stake dinner"
ok, so technically, it is not incorrect spelling, but rather incorrect usage, as a stake is something you put thru a vampires heart, whereas a steak is dead burned animal flesh. and then there was the delicious irony of mis-spelling "spelled". and i wont even touch your grammar. but gosh-darn it, i like ya kid, i think youre gonna be just fine.

The BSA doesn't allow unit websites to identify Scouts in photos by first and last name online or to provide any contact information as to protect youth from predators. Units are encouraged to use the web as a communication and educational tool.

I'm a wee bit familiar with the BSA's policy on web use and abuse as the North Florida Council has asked me to do several talks at Scoutmaster Fundamental courses and at Camporees.

If she is referring to webshot albums that identify you as Ice Tea in photos then, please, once again she proves that she doesn't know what she's talking about.

they got together went on a short hike and made fun of me saying was going to get raped by you all.
How Scout-like.

Just do what you do my man and don't sweat it.

Heck, you're welcome to join our troop on a trip anytime. Smokies next spring?

Your Scoutmaster nor anyone from the BSA can make, ask or suggest that you sign ANYTHING regarding your internet useage.

HPM, you are a really cool dude and I would like to. I love the old school coppy of the hand book that you sent me. As I flip throught he pages of Baden Powle I seem to get a gist of "a scout is brave" and should face the fears that are non existant. Just like the net.

Bummage you have to deal with politics and all that jive, Ice. I agree with HPM and the others, just do your own thing. You're in good hands with the NE crew, but I think you know that. :-)

Let me help
Okay, since I've had a long association (since terminated) with someone of the manipulative persuasion, let me drop this bit of advice: Tea, end your association with this woman. She's a manipulator, and as such will do or say anything to keep you under her thumb. Why would she do this, you ask. Well, there's no easy why. Manipulators do it mostly because it gives them pleasure and satisfaction to control someone else's life, often because they don't like their own life very much, but not always. Really though, the only way to end the manipulator's control over your life is to terminate the relationship. You've sort of done that a little by being scarce. But notice how quickly she tried to manipulate you again, this time with an apparent lie.

It does no good to confront the manipulator, or to check up on them and present them with the facts. That just gives them the satisfaction of knowing that they are still controlling you. The only real option is to cut off contact with the individual. I had to take that course of action with my best friend, the guy who was my best man at my wedding. It can be painful, but self-determination is it's own gift.

Good luck, Tea.

And if you did it would be meaningless and hold no weight with the BSA.

You know Tea, there are a lot of people who think they can demand things of you simply becasue it fits with their idea of what Scouting is. For example, papers that tell you how to use the internet, things that say you have to attend all troop functions to advance, things that say you have to make a certain GPA to advance, not allowing scouts to talk about their life outsidde of scouting. I've seen all these things in troops. They can't do that and have no right to try. The problem is that they don't know or refuse to understand what scouting really is.

Thanks Tea, I try.

Some of y'all don't seem to understand my posts regarding this issue.

What I am posting is not advice, it is gospel truth.

I was a BSA trainer when I was 15. I have been involved in teaching adults AND Scouts how to be leaders for close to 17 YEARS now. I KNOW what they can and CAN'T do. Most of what was described is strictly in the CAN'T DO zone.

To my mind, the important thing here is how Tea reacted or didn't. I think Tea was cool through the whole thing and is now enjoying the advantage of having behaved well.

OK - seriously now
Tea. Reading the thread, I have couple of ideas. First, its possible that Mrs. X really is well intentioned or over-protective and too fearful of things she doesn't understand.

If there are any more problems with her, is it possible that Father Joe would help. Maybe he will mediate and help her get some perspective on things.

Perhaps Fa. Joe or you can tell her that her trust is important. You are highly motivated about succeeding in life and she needs to trust that you made some reasonable choices about skipping school to complete an assignment. She might also be able to understand that by interfering in your life and trying to control you, she is losing your trust and confidence in her.

Also, you went on FYAO with some great people. I'd trust them with my own kids even if I couldn't come. She ought to be impressed by the fact that you went with Dare and AmyG - with his military service, and his wife who has completed wilderness EMT training.

And I'm the bad son
To make this brief I'll do it in bullets with little detail:

• Mrs. X son (now to be known as **) goes to itali with HS and mother

•Alcohol can be sold to minors in Itally'

• ** calls me tuesday piss drunk, he got a earing. I tell him he is stupid for getting drunk and the earing.

•He tells me drinking is leagle in Itally

• His mother doesn't care that he is drinking since its leagle

•Just got another call from **, hes busted earlyer this night with 30 of his friends, drinking

•To save his friends he writes on papper that he bought all the liqure and its not every one ellses faults. He signs this papper

• He calls me, he tells me he is suspended. A suspention from HS could distroy his full acedemic ride to leehigh under ROTC. His dream was West P, but Lee High will have to do.

• If his scholarship is revocked he is #&%!$ed. He turned down all his saftey schools after agreing to attent Lee high.

• His parrents cant aford the money for college.

--------

Now, who's eagle scout should be in jepordy??????

Now, who is the better kid, w/ more controll.

MEMEMEMMEMEMEME!!!!!
--------

I say this to all of you to get the "I told you so" out of my system, because I won't tell him I told you so. That does help anything.

I did tell him, never put somehting ill in writing, that will never go away. And maybe he can serve a Bizzilion detentions instend of a sespention.

He also thinks the Preist may be bluffing with the suspention since alot of the kidds in the room have full ride scholarships that could be destroyed.
