Pretty crazy looking. I wonder if those hoodlum kids that where the panty hoses on their heads will "sup" them up with fart cannons and spoilers like they do with other Hondas.

Kinda looks like they couldn't deside between a micro minivan or an SUV. They load it up with features, but couldn't get the thing a little further off the ground? What are those 12" wheels?

I think it's funny... SUV's have become so trendy that you make a ugly POS and stamp suv on it and it will sell... we are such sheep sometimes

Well if you want a smaller sized 4-door suv, try out a Saturn VUE. It gets great gas mileage for a SUV (All wheel drive 4 cyl. 21-city/26-hiway) (AWD 6 cyl. 19-city/25- hiway) You would also be supporting a fellow TT er, as I make em down in Spring Hill, TN! They are sporty and lots of fun to drive also. Here is their link:

miss opie thank you very much. Very ugly.
If I remember right from my last vacation you can take pieces of and exchange them for a different color. I think the tires also go almost sideways (for easy parking) really strange car.
gas millage is great, but gas in germany is expensive. 1 liter for around $1.50 (actually it's around Euro 1.50, so it's not the same. A liter is not much.

anyway, UGLYYYYYY

the element is a cool vehicle...
you bozo's don't know what your talkin about. loads of room inside it...its a mini H2...lots of headroom, and entirely waterproof inside...just open the doors and hose it down...

ya'll are just STUCK in your little universes, afraid of change and trying something new and being negative and skeptical about something you know nothing about...I'll bet you all said the same thing when the Kia Sportage, Toyota Rav4 and Honda CRV came out...and look how great those cars have been.

Damn yuppies have given SUVs a bad name. They used to be just that, Sport Utility Vehicles, before they added all the plush carpet, leather, TVs and other extras. SUVs were for people like us who used them for what they were made for.To haul four people and their gear to a trailhead. Toss in a rick of firewood and haul it to the cabin for the weekend. A great utility for farmers, forest service workers etc. Then everyone had to have one because they're bigger and better than what everyone else had. Now, you're practically a criminal in some people's eyes if you own one.

I like it!
Indiana John, Birch and I actually looked into the element. It doesn't have carpet! It is actually made to be abused by the likes of me, a coffee spillin' muddy boot wearin' woman who just doesn't care what the heck her car looks like, just wants something that'll fit a kid two dogs two kayaks and two backpacks. It won't fit all that stuff, unfortunately.

It is priced right. We'll wait a few years until my car is held together with duct tape and check it out again (it's sooooo nice not having any car payment). And it's just not wise to purchase a car in it's first year on the market. We'll let them get all the bugs out.

Sounds like a plan. I too love the no car payment deal. Makes it hard to buy a new one.I once had a Toyota Supra that I rolled to 200K then 300K. That car amazed me.

LOL! for real...i make SO much fun of that car whenever i see people driving it. it really is one of the ugliest things i've ever seen. but they're so nice, i can't tell them how hideous i think it is. maybe it's cool on the inside...i've never seen it. and they offered to let us borrow it for camping trips and whatnot, since it's all-wheel drive. aawww...they're cute.

Well said Indiana John. I'd bet that 99% of SUV's with 4-wheel drive never go off-road. Yet, during a bad snow storm, I see more of them in ditches than any other type of vehicle. It's hilarious. Stupid yuppies get overconfident. :-)

It's amazing how history repeats itself. In the current effort to create a combination minivan SUV with car like handling, American Automakers have sucessfully invented the Station Wagon.

We looked at those when we were car shopping but had some concerns about the lack of a center (side) support beam. Vehicles with that particular design feature (flaw?)tend to crumple more severely and crush the passenger compartment in collisions. We continued looking. It's a shame too, otherwise it was one of our favorites.

Anybody remeber the Country Squire? Green with that wood paneling. My family used that thing like an SUV!!

The Element sure is different...I test drove one the other day. I'm not sure if it's something that I would buy....but like Stikmon said...it's got some really cool features....like the entire inside is waterproof!

Anyway...I must be one of those yuppies that Artex is so jealous about.........I just bought an Acura MDX....now that's a nice ride....I guess it better be for 40,000 clams....

Personally I love the station wagon. Its an engineering marvel of form following function. We currently drive a tauras wagon (96). What a road trip vehicle. The backseats fold down and it is larger than our Eureka Timberline 2man.

The first wagon we(my folks) had was an earlier/mid-70's plymouth volare in burgundy.
