WTF is up with PETA? Do they have jobs? Can't they find something better to do?

In honor of peta, i'm going to eat twice as much meat as normal. So if they really want to end the "suffering" of poor animals, then they'll have to stop protesting.

Here's a good one. In LA or San Diego, PETA parodied a "Got milk?" billboard in Spanish. The billboard read "Eche La Leche" which loosely translates to "throw the milk". However, to Mexicans, eche la leche is slang for ejaculation!

I wouldn't be surprised if they do. Their argument would probably go something like, "Because it supports the idea that killing and eating animals is acceptable, even if only symbolically" yada yada yada...

When Twignut was a little girl, I took her to Macy's Herald Square. The PETA people were outside protesting Macy's (I guess for selling furs or something like that). When we walked by, they lunged at us and literally scared to heck out of this poor kid. I was so angry. The relentless yelling in the face, I had to literally push one away back behind the police barrier. That behavior was so unnecessary. BTW, none of us were wearing furs...

Daily Record

A WOMAN'S remains which were stolen from her grave may have been fed to guinea pigs by animal rights activists, it was claimed yesterday.

Police believe two people spent more than four hours digging up the body of Gladys Hammond, whose son-in-law breeds the animals for medical research.

And last night, there was speculation that fanatics from the Animal Liberation Front may have been responsible and taken the outrage even further.

A source with links to the ALF said: 'There are no lengths that these people will not go to and feeding this poor woman to the guinea pigs is the sort of irony they would like.'

Detective Chief Inspector Nick Baker, heading the inquiry, refused to say which parts of the body had been had been taken during last Wednesday's raid on the grave in the cemetery of St Peter's Church in the village of Yoxall, Staffordshire.

Mrs Hammond, who died aged 82 in 1997, was the mother-in-law of Chris Hall who breeds guinea pigs at a farm in nearby Newchurch.

I THINK it was Peta that set some animals free that could not live by themselves where they were let loose, so they died. Now that's a stupid thing to do. I wonder if the story was real or not. I think they let minks loose. Sound familiar?

I think Pamela Anderson belongs to PETA. She is an animal rights activist, and came out against KFC when PETA showed a video of their chickens being abused.

Just in case if you TT'ers didn't know...the "bonsai kitten" art (?) was a hoax. Some university students got that site up and running. The SPCA and FBI have been adviced from all over the world, of them....apparently some morons tried to stuff kittens into glass jars for art....following the site's directions.

Oh yeah, if those PETA idiots did that to a dead body...then they're really f*#@ed in the brain.

And the story of the minks being released by PETA, and then being killed by cars, other animals or starved to death was true.

Live Free or Die?

Without PETA & ALF lab animals would have no rights.

I fully supoport the idea's behind PETA & ALF. I'm just glad I don't work in Europe where they are far more militant.

GGGS - On occasion, those being hunted which I have no problem with if done for sustenance. I've ended my relationship with farmed mammals a while ago and struggle with chicken. I also work on rodents & lagamorphs.

Doesn't affect my position, though.

Too bad PETA couldn't refocuse their energies to abused HUMAN CHILDREN.

I'm not against animal rights, but many of the tactics PETA employs are illegal.

Live free or die?

What about the insidious enslavement to the food bowl BM.
Should that not be abolished also.

By all means if your pooch can open that can of Alpo let them, but you should not intervene. Actually if they cannot kill that whale or cow themselves we should not intervene.

I mean if you want the dog to be your friend it should be a genuine friendship and not a food enslavement. Offer companionship but no food. see how long your "best Friend" stays.
How is it right to kill fish so kittycat will be your friend?

All lab testing should be done on humans right. Given the hazards of the job you may have to pay these human "guinea pigs" a lot of money but that is what a free market economy is all about right!

Might have a few more mistakes like Thalidomide around but at least the animals can keep their freedom and dignity.

How should society take care of humans who have tested faulyty products and can now no longer contribute to society die to debilitations caused by the testing they did.
If that is the responsibility of the product company expect to pay a lot more for a lot of products.

What about space for these animals to live - check out the post on Deer hunting for a view of how housing and shopping malls and highways destroy the homes of animals.

If those PETA protesters live in anything other than caves or treetops they are hypocrits.

BB - I believe there are other organizations that take care of human abuse.

Yes, manuka. let's all take it to the extreme to show how wrong PETA & ALF is.

They are hypocrits because....blah blah blah.

Therefore, all their work is invalid and wrong. they have done nothing positive.

Anyone taking these positions answer this: What rights have animals gained since the 1970's? How were these wrong?

If you can't name 'em, then we are done.

BM the greatest threat to all wild animals today is loss of habitat

caused by ... too many humans.

The historic solution has been disease, smallpox 1/3 of an uninoculated population.
Bubonic plague is another great population thinner.

pretty much all of todays endangered species are endangered because of nowhere to live.

Is not somewhere to live about the most basic "right" you can get ??

By bulldozing forests and farms we are committing selective genocide every day.

PETA and ALF using criminal acts to get their message across IS invalidating their results in much the same way as the "medical" research done on hypothermia by the Nazis in WWII concentration camps.

Manuka - I wasn't talking about wild animals. And I stick by what I said: ALF & PETA have done more to bring awareness and results to animal rights than any other organizations.

Therefore, the results can not be invalidated since they are concrete and beneficial

HPM - I never said they weren't extreme.

And none of you has been able to post the gains of animals in the last 30-40 yrs. You only read about the negative.

Can I also reiterate that I could easily become a target? They could destroy my work and job.

However, I understand what they are doing.
