PETA used to amuse me.
They are starting to tick me off.

Pretty poor judgment, to put it mildly. Juxtapositioning an image of the holocaust with animals is almost about as trivializing as some people’s tendency to attach the –nazi label to any stance they disagree with.

PETA is stupid. Those guys really tick me off. They oppose the way animals are raised in mass for food consumption, yet they also oppose hunting where an animal is allowed to live freely in the wild before it is eaten?!?! Bunch of morons.

You're still allowed to eat roadkill, though.

Also, honey and silk are off-limits.

Honey- you steal the bee's food.
Silk - you murder the silkworm.

Next they'll be against antibiotic ointment because it kills bacteria.

The one that set me off was urging college kids to drink beer instead of milk, as though we don't have enough problems with college kids drinking themselves to death already.

they go for shock tactics to get attention to their cause - whatever the rights and wrongs of the issues, it works

The ends do not justify the means, ynami.

This particular group has also posted a bilboard of the mayor of new york after he got prostate cancer. The picture showed him with a milk moustache. The caption read: "Got cancer?"

They were trying to draw attention to milk's unhealthy side. In the meantime, they belittled a man for cancer.

There really should be better ways.

PETA's tactics are PR stunts, and they continue to cross the line in a really hurtful way. I only hope that eventually they'll turn enough people off and see their donation dollars shrink.

I'm going to dedicate my next boar hunt to those bastards.

i doubt that they will see their donations shrink because, apparently, there are plenty of people who public decry what they are doing, but privately send them a check to keep doing it. Of course, I could be wrong, there's always the posibility that they are operating a white slave trade under the table to fund their operations.

Peta gets a lot of funding from other front organisations....I forget the names but after an ivestigation of money disbursement for a major charity drive it turned out that peta ultimatly received money from 4 other charities that were represented. They werent the only ones that pulled that scam and since the paperwork was actually all legal there wasnt anything that could be done to stop it. NAMBLA was another offender. The worse part was each participant was garanteed a percentage of the take and so no matter who you chose, your money ended up with these people. It pays to take a very close look at what your chosen charity does with its money and what it really advocates.

I used to find peta somewhat amusing but these people think that its ok to kill humans to protect animals and so forth.

Don't Donate Anymore
Yes Jello Fog...we're talking about bagels.

It's really sad, alot of legitimate charities are tarred because alot of "bad" charities scam so many people. The expenses of those organizations take up all the donations, sometimes up to 98% or more!!! The organizers/suits have all this huge parties, yachts, expensive trips, limos etc...just sick.

There was an article in this mornings paper about the impact it would have if hunting were abolished by animal rights. 500,000 jobs would be lost along with many other negative things. One thing that would really be bad for wildlife is that the State Gamelands system was developed for wildlife habitat and would be questionable where the money would come from to support it and buy new land for wildlife. I don't hunt, but I'd hate to see the gamelands that I fish, hike and mountainbike be sold off or developed and that land lost as wildlife habitat. It would be counterproductive for the animals because it's hunters dollars that pay for the land.

Interesting point, richb. Anti-hunters just don't see the big picture a lot of the time, or refuse to look at it.

Thanks for thinking of me, Violin, sweetie!!!

Oh yeah, I forgot.... The Holocaust saw the killing of people so we could eat them, as opposed to just letting us eat the people that run wild.

ummmmmm.... not quite a parallel here. DOH!

PETA has driven itself to the point of such extremities that no one even takes anything they say or do seriously. They are a parody of themselves.
