!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Knowing I might face cold weather on the march 8th trip, I went out looking for a coat and gloves etc. since I seriously don't have cold weather stuff (my warmest thing is a fleece)
So I thought about going to REI, then decided to check out the clearence racks at the mall. Here is what I found:

1 pair of avacodo green fleece gloves- $1

A water proof jacket, fleece lined and packs down small :) Its a bit big on me but that just means I can layer lots of clothes underneith.

All I got to do is find some non-cotton pants now (last time i was in the snow my jeans froze to my legs UGH)

Bizarre. I thought it was going to be a gear thread. Oh wait, it is.

Good score Free. You can usually find some kind of nylon or polyester pants at the mall as well.

I got a couple different pairs of pants at WalMart this winter.

-Ski pants. Windproof and waterproof, but not breathable. Hey, only $25, what do you expect? Great for staying toasty, I just can't wear them where hypothermia would be a concern from gettting chilled after sweating in a good workout. (was that a long enough sentence?)

-Some fleece pants for like $13. I also got fleece pants at Campmor, on sale maybe a month ago, for like $15. Like them better, cuz they have fleecy pile on both sides. WalMart ones are more slick nylon on the inside.

-I got waterproof, breathable rainfear at Gander Mt. But it was regular price. >8-O Purchased immediately after a trip in rain last fall, so I knew I needed the stuff!

So, your going on a trip?
Guess I'll have to quit treating you like a troll. ;)

Wally World is good, but also check out the warehouse sized sporting goods stores in your area.

Old Navy has some great deals on cheap warm clothing.

Hey free, I, being the king of cheap, can tell you that I saw some great waterproof stuff and the like for women at the thrift stores in Carmichael. Let me know if you find everything you need. If not, I'll send you some info. :)

Also, We might have a few pieces of unused gear laying around here that you can have.

Let me know what your gear list is looking like. You can email me at Phaedrus at Spinn.net.

Okey dokey. I have a couple of older basic designs self-inflating pads that I no longer use. You're welcome to one if you'd like it.

They're not light, but they served me well for many years.

I can't believe it...Matt censored me. All I did was respond to two other TT'ers....something about "lay away plans".

note the standards of hikers looking at the size of one's butt are different than the standards of the world at large - big butt == strong hiker

Free23, did you post you pic on Phil's Photo Page?

I always thought "big butt" means taking up more space in a car.
