Long Live the Tree Folk
Just wanted to publicly thank mapleleaf, treebeard, and their daughters for taking me to the NY sea aquarium today for a very fun afternoon. Very fascinating animals there (walrus, beluga whales, several different species of sharks, fish up the whazoo, and much more), and not only was it a really good time, but very educational as well. And of course, you guys are great fun to be around. Thanks again!

Let it be known, the tree people are super cool and if you get to chance to hike or hang out with these folks, you won't regret it!

I'll download my pictures and post them later.

...And Artex Is A Great Guy To Have Along...
Yes, Folks! We got Artex to come over to this side of the Hudson River without holding a gun to his head. That, in itself, was enough of a triumph to warrant not doing anything and staying in bed for the rest of the day. But, seriously, we began our venture when Artex arrived at our place in Park Slope, Brooklyn. We loaded up into our car and sauntered down to Coney Island, home of one of the finest aquariums in the United States. We started out by watching the feeding of the sea otters and walruses. The black-footed pe=nguins (also known as 'jackass' penguins) were, as always, pretty cool to watch. We had a wonderful day walking from exhibit to exhibit, talking, and learning some pretty cool facts about all the marine life there. We had lunch and finished up around 3:30 PM and headded back. Glad you enjoyed it, Artex. I know we did. Some of the pictures in the link above came out pretty good. Looking forward to our night out this Friday, so we can send our good buddy off the right way on his move to sunny FLA.

Yo! Really nice pix! You guys had the artistic mojo amped up, all the pix have something to say : ) The groups shots crack me up and I like the Mapleleaf & Trout reflection too. All the fish shots are way-cool. The shot of the yellow tang makes the fish look see-thru, how'd you do that?
Who was that hairy chick at Blubber Beach that Artex hooked up with... why does this not surprise me?!?

Hey! Didn't you guys get an award this weekend for volunteering at the park?
Congratulations Treepeople @

Just some honorable recognition, Capn. But that was rewarding enough. We had a nice time. Glad you enjoyed those pics. The old digital worked some wonders this time.

Ha ha ha! You guys are too much! :-)

Unfortunately, my camera didn't like the aquarium glass, so my pics came out subpar. Got some great ones of the walruses though, but they look much the same as the Tree people's.

By the way, treebeard makes an awesome turkey salad! His culinary skills should translate well on the trail. ;-)
