Nice job, Twiggie!” 12:49:21 PM 3/04/03 “I know lyra, me too. The scenery ones are pretty, but I think they really only mean something to the people who were there. I'm only this way with TTers though, any other time, it's get the hell outta my picture, LOL!” 12:51:04 PM 3/04/03 “Pic 31, Katahdin Lake from Blueberry Knoll, is my favorite so far. Nice job at framing that pic!” 12:54:14 PM 3/04/03 “Thanks! I can't wait to see Pennsy's pics though, I know he got some awesome shots.” 12:58:37 PM 3/04/03 “Nice pix twiggy! How high are the mountains in that location and where does the tree line end? The southern mountains have no tree line (trees everwhere!) and the lack of trees just seems strange to me. The views must be fantastic. I do believe sunscreen might be needed. Dang it, I've got to come up to Maine. July/August? Hey twiggy, who gives you all the moose? Taste anything like deer?” 1:01:13 PM 3/04/03 “Nice lush color! Where's the photo of me romping in my blue long underwear? Oh wait, Pennsy's aren't up yet!” 1:03:03 PM 3/04/03 “Katahdin is our highest mountain at 5,267', 5,280 if you count that 13' cairn on top. Treeline - somewhere around 3,xxx'. Moose comes from a guy here at work, and unless he gets another permit, that was the end of it. I'm not sure how the two compare, I think moose is very tasty though - probably better than deer, except I love deer tenderloin. I hate deer sausage, but the moose sausage (not hot) is pretty good. Everyone seemed to like the deer heart as well.” 1:12:53 PM 3/04/03 “Fabulous pics Twiggy!! That new camera is working great. Don't forget to ask Artex about that zoom in / out little problem you had. I forgot about the deer heart. It sounded really awful but tasted yummy. Hopefully, I do NOT have any pics of TT in his undies. I'll start working on the pics tonight but it might take a few days. Until then, keep coming back here while we continue to post our memories of the weekend.” 1:21:11 PM 3/04/03 “twigeater, dearheart, you forgot the moose liver pate'. You and your exotic animal products were a treat! I can now brag on eatin' moose!” 1:32:49 PM 3/04/03 “Oh yeah, I wanted to add something to the "three hour tour" hike we took. What a blast! What fun it was bailing around in the dark on an unbroken trail with a couple of strange men hollering for blue! I knew we'd still be out there in the dark and that the trail wasn't broken, but completely forgot about the streams. After we got over the first little bridge, I started going over the trail in my head, and my heart sunk when I remembered another crossing with NO bridge that was tricky last trip. Fortunately, Mr Pennsylvania Hiker can walk on water (well, if it's under 3' of snow anyway) so we followed him (after we saw that he didn't get wet, lol). No one else I know would have appreciated that hike quite like we did. One reason I love TTers! We joked along the way that the others probably drank up the booze rations we foolishly left in their care, lol. So first thing when I got back I picked up the schnapps I had lugged in in a water bottle to check it. It was half full when we left, and because it's clear liquid, someone almost topped it off when water was being filtered, but I rescued it just in time, phew! However, when we returned the water bottle was full! Oh no! Fortunately, it was just pedxing playing a joke on me - he'd dumped the schnapps into a different bottle and filled the water bottle with water!” 1:44:39 PM 3/04/03 “great pictures, twigeater!! now i have to make sure i make it to maine come fall!” 1:47:10 PM 3/04/03 “And just what was it that bumper sticker on your cah sez?” 1:53:33 PM 3/04/03 “what's a cah? :p Hey, does anyone mind our trip report and pics being posted on mtkatahdin.net?” 1:57:39 PM 3/04/03 “I want royalties for the user of my image~~~%^P” 2:22:36 PM 3/04/03 “Royalties for the user? How would that work, lol?” 2:26:18 PM 3/04/03 “Nice pikchas theah, twigeatah. I'm waitin' fa Pennsy's. (*clears throat* How's my New England accent?)” 2:26:46 PM 3/04/03 LOL! “You peeps from away talk pretty funny yerselves! I just don't understand how you get your mouths to make some of those sounds - weird! ;)” 2:32:00 PM 3/04/03 “I'm sorry, that'd be "use" of my image. Post away twiggrrll! OK, OK, I'll stop pickin' on ya.....I wouldn't want you to get $h!t-canned for excessive laughing at work.” 2:32:56 PM 3/04/03 “Shucks, we needed you to translate when that State Pahk dude on the BIG SKI DOO showed up!” 2:37:46 PM 3/04/03 “I can't even giggle today, much less laugh... :) ...and you're not helping! I thought 42 miles would leave me with sore legs, but nooooo, a few hours drinking with you fools and I broke my laugh !” 2:42:37 PM 3/04/03 “Broke it? Haven't you ever heard the saying, "shake it, but don't break it!"” 2:53:02 PM 3/04/03 “My pics are uploading to webshots now. Go to webshots, type in my e-mail: uphillklimber@yahoo.com and you should see some soon. Can anyone (Twigeater) send me directions how to make a link at that e-mail address, anyone at all (Twigeater)? Please!!!!!” 3:00:49 PM 3/04/03 “I don't know how to do what you just said monkeyboy. In webshots I go to "my photos", then "my public community page" then I click on the album, then copy the link in the address line and paste it. probably not the right way, but it works! PS TomT - you can't eat moose liver because it contains cadmium, or some such thing - so no moose liver pate. I did have deer liver though!” 3:08:40 PM 3/04/03 “Oh yeah - "shake it don't break it" - if I didn't have such a loud obnoxious laugh, I'd probably be ok!” 3:10:37 PM 3/04/03 Let's try this 3:13:38 PM 3/04/03 “Okay, I have copied and pasted. But I see where some people are able to make a link out of this. How???? I'm so confused....” 3:15:44 PM 3/04/03 here ya go! 3:18:06 PM 3/04/03 yay “What great pictures! What great weather you had on the day in, and on the day up to Chimney Pond. Can't blame you for wanting to go higher up the cliffss twig!! I am almost (almost!) thinking of breaking my rule again da wife seeing this site, so that I can show her your photos, and why I wanted to go so badly!!!!” 3:18:30 PM 3/04/03 “great pics monkeyboy! I dunno lee, think you really want her reading some of the stuff you post, LOL! (j/k) The weather was incredible, even the snowstorm was awesome!” 3:21:37 PM 3/04/03 “You must have a program in your PC that does it for you. I can't do it...arghhhh.... Thanx for the link.” 3:24:15 PM 3/04/03 “no, you have to do the html yourself. Search the threads for html. [a href="http://community.webshots.com/album/65465161SUMKxo"]pics[/a] replace all the [ with < and the ] with > and it will make a clickable link.” 3:27:11 PM 3/04/03 “I had to log in again. Somehow I got logged out. ???? Nice pixs monkeyboy. I saw 6 pix, more coming? That first picture is a hoot. Big bunch of boozehounds, Ha Ha.” 3:29:08 PM 3/04/03 “There are only 6 thumbnails, but 7 pics.” 3:30:23 PM 3/04/03 “PS - not Papoose Pond, but Compass Pond.” 3:31:53 PM 3/04/03 “24 pics coming, they are loading right now, dial up....” 3:32:40 PM 3/04/03 “Know what you mean monkeyboy. Takes forever on dialup. Sure do wish I could get dsl at home.” 3:41:01 PM 3/04/03 “Awesome pics! Of all the states I've visited, Maine is in my top three. I hung around a bit in the Rangeley Lake area and am dying to get back! I'll be keeping my eyes open for a Maine TT hike that I can attend!” 4:30:51 PM 3/04/03 “awesome report guys! Man, it makes me wish I could have made it for this one. The toasty warm cabin at the end of a FYAO day makes for a great trip!! Great pics Twigster...lemme go check out monkeyman's too. Pennsy prevails as the master photoman again, I guess? He should change his handle. He should also hurry his a$$ up with those shots! We want more Maine pics! >:D” 4:32:28 PM 3/04/03 “Twig -- Well . . .that's it in a nutshell!! I wouldn't want her reading much of what I post!! Maybe she wwouldn't ask my logon name . . ...” 4:33:42 PM 3/04/03 “Rangeley is a great area! Most years I spend a week of my vacation there, there's so much great hiking. And the Swift River is not far away where you can pan for gold. We should do a TT trip there!” 4:35:34 PM 3/04/03 “oh yeah lee, I didn't think of that...you don't think she'd pick you outta the crowd, lol?” 4:37:37 PM 3/04/03 Reflections “Well...finally got MY turn at the 'puter(just kidding). This trip was way too much fun. Ayah, wicked fun, don't ya know it!!! I hav'ta say Twigeater the best for organizin these things. Tom Terrific, I hope we didn't tramatize your son too much, with all the goin's on the "adults"(over 40) crowd had. He must be thinkin, "this is what I have to look forward to when I turn 40? LOL (Just kiddin) I've never met someone that has soo many stories to tell....veryyy interesting :) Pedxing also had some good stories with all his great accents thrown in. Good stuff I tell ya. Of course most of the time the stories came after a little tipping of the bottle(did I say little?) Musta be talkin 'bout me, ya the light weight that didn't finish the beer that was found in the morning. Sorry Tom T...really wasn't holdin out, I wouldn'ta cared you guys finished it off. BTW, how'd that Ameretto taste anyway? You know the bottle I shoulda brought to RB for the second night? Oh well better luck next time. Pennsey's pretty funny too. Especially where he really trusted those two(UK,aka monkeyboy & Twig)into getting him back to the cabin before dark(can you say Lost in Space? :))LOL The rest of us were wonderin iffin we shoulda waited to have a drink...I mean it WAS right there in front of us burning a hole in the table and all. But we controlled our urges waiting and waiting and waiting for them to come back from their 3 hour tour..... No really that wasn't the jist of all...I REALLY wanted to get to Chimney Pond for the winter sight, as well as the experience of the whole hike in and out of Baxter. Let me say, it was well worth the trip and I'd do it again in a second, as a matter of fact, I'm hoping to this summer. It's amazing how many people do this all winter long, it's a first for me and will stay as a most memorable one for me. The views all the way up to CP was something I've never seen before and I got to see a fox, that was way cool. Saw a bunch of other animal tracks along the way....was hoping to see other animal critters, but that was great. That wasn't the only first for me, 1st for moose stew, deer heart, and moose saugage. It's a wonder I didn't put on more weight from eating(foraging) on all the food!!! The cheesecake tasted sooo good when we got back from the last day(yummy) and the potato surpise!!! It was a surprise, eh Pennsey :) BTW, did I tell you my favorite color is blue??? :)” 5:04:14 PM 3/04/03 “Wow! Great pics Monkey and Twiggy! Just looking at them makes me feel like I was there... Oh yeah! I was there! How kewl is that!?” 5:14:50 PM 3/04/03 “It looks like you all had a great trip; it must have been cold. What was the temp?” 5:32:15 PM 3/04/03 “Awesome Trip Report and Pictures Everyone!!! Makes me wish I was there!” 5:34:38 PM 3/04/03 Kelty Hiker “Take a look at this: http://community.webshots.com/photo/65465161/65494118frNGcF Copy and paste this into your browser.” 5:40:10 PM 3/04/03 “Must have been toasty warm. I notice lots of magenta in your face. I like the high quality picnic table in compact style.” 5:46:31 PM 3/04/03 Great trip “Awesome pics and sounds like you all had alot of fun. Just one question though.....Was the bunkhouse already there or is that just an expandable pop-up shelter. You can never tell what kinda new gear Pennsy might have packed in.” 6:19:34 PM 3/04/03 “Cool pics, monkeyboy and Skeetah! Pennsy didn't need to trust us to get outta the woods, he was the one who found most of the blazes! Temps were warm KeltyHiker. Pennsy was the official temperature keeper (can you say gear slut, lol!), but I think every day was in the teens.” 6:22:58 PM 3/04/03 “LOL Dare! Hey, maybe I can build a pop-up gear sled. Kelty - it was minus 17 the first night but we were comfy in the cabin. Ahhhh, roughing it never felt so good. The rest of the weekend the temps varied between 10 and 28. Very nice. Great pics Monkey Boy! I guess my calling you monkey boy 2,199 times convinced you for the change, eh? ;o) This is my last post til I get the pics up. I don't why I'm bothering because everybody did such a great job with theirs. Maybe I have a few variations (such as undie pics and other embarrassing candids).” 6:54:07 PM 3/04/03
