Northeast Ohio hikers

“Just wanted to touch base with hikers in the area. I've recently moved from hell, aka Chicago, back to my hometown Akron. Trying to find a backpacking community in the area. Let your voices be heard! Or, at least, say hi.”

I use to hike the Cuyahoga Valley NF religiously and I suggest you get the Northfield *and* Penninsula, OH 7.5min quadrangles, make photocopies of certain areas around the established trails, then head off those trails and into the woods for a Badland-like terrain hiking experience.”

“Lawyergary, I am also looking for fellow hikers in the Akron area. I saw in the Beacon Journal where there are groups already doing some winter camping in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. If you would like someone to hike with, drop me a line. Kirk.”

“If lawyergary has a place for a bunch of us to crash, I might entertain leading a weekend of hikes in the backwoods of the CVNP. Technically, you are not allowed to camp within the park boundary so we'd do long dayhikes, lets say 2 on Sat and 1 early Sun morning.”

“You driving yet Budder. I was thinking about my B.day last year and that groovy banjo B.day song I got this day last year.You any better?”

“Yes I'm driving, and in the opinion of some from last weeks jam session I've improved dramatically since last year wrt my banjo playing. In the last month I noticed I have been able to "keep up" with the folks at those sessions more than before, so I think all the practicing is paying off. If I didn't dig it so much I probably wouldn't be half as good as I have gotten so far.

And regarding the hostile Mr.Lurker, I've hiked by there many times (it's downstream of Brandywine Falls which we stopped at if you remember) but never considered staying at the place, and don't really know that much about it. If we did meet again for a weekend I have friends who would let us camp in their backyard (maybe...if I asked) but it'd be the parking situation that would be almost impossible.

Anywho, I'll be heading back to visit soon and when I do I'll give you a heads up lawyergary and taz44 because I'll most definitly be doing a few hikes for old times sake.”
