I'm in the middle of reading "South" by Sir Ernest Shackleton.

It's about an expedition to Antartica in 1914 that went wrong when the ship, 'Endurance', became stuck in heavy ice floes and was eventually crushed by the pressure.

I'm only halfway through with it but no one has died yet and they've been stuck for just over a year! It's pretty inspiring reading for a newbie to winter BP'ing. I thought spending a weekend in 0 degree weather was rough! These men camped on a slab of ice, slowly drifting across the sea, in constant below-freezing temps. without all the fancy gear we have today. Of course, they did have to eat alot of seals and penguins.

Anyhoot, if you're looking fo a good book to read, pick this one up - and yes, the beginning is kinda slow - but gets better!

Sounds like my kind of read! I'll have to check it out sometime. However, my "to read" list is already veeeeery long. :-)

Hey Crack Puppy,

When are you moving?

If I manage to finish it before you move, you can have the book (a little going away gift?).

Let me know :)
