Which Tribe do you trace your descent from chili36

http://www.native-languages.org/alabama.htm

The Alabama tribe
The Cherokee tribe
The Chickasaw tribe
The Choctaw tribe
The Koasati tribe
The Muskogee (Creek) tribe

Cos if you are not one of those they can't let you in.

Is 1/16th the largest component from any ethnic group ? just curious because I read somewhere that Alex Haley the author of "Roots" stated that he was actually more Irish than African.

Cherokees are Matriarchal so as long as they do not adopt reciprocal standards of purity you should be good to go.

"Original inhabitants"?

Who's that?

I think "Native Americans" should have to go back to Asia. Or at Least The Northwest Territory.

My native blood (couple drops) is Creek.

I have a genuine affection for the Confederate soldier (and an infinite respect for the Union soldier), especially those of the 50th GA Vol Infantry - specificly(sp?) an 'ol boy from Co H, The Thomas County Rangers. That would be my Grandpa Zion.

He was wounded at the Wilderness. His brother James died of disease. Grandpa Zion went on to raise James' son.

I've visited Civil War memorials from Gettysburg to Savannah. I'm always amazed at the exhibitions of determination and fortitude of both the Yankees and Rebs. It was one of the greatest and most horrific and most glorious moments in our great nation's hisory.

Yet to pay homage to Granda Zion et al is to be racist.

WTF?

I have a miniscule amount of Cherokee, and some ancestors who fought for the South, and some others who fought for the North.

"Pure Bread Cherokee?" Flat or leavened?

HPM's family has quite a bit of Cherokee blood. It's showing in his brother, actually.

HPM is too freakin' tall to be of SE Indian stock. ;-)
Most of the SE tribes were of fairly short stature.

I don't know which story is more troublesome; the guy attacking the Governor's house with a baseball bat, or....

HELENA - Guards have stepped up their patrols of the governor's mansion, and officials are meeting today to see if security should be further beefed up following an incident Tuesday in which a man with a baseball bat came to the home yelling anti-government sentiments.

The man, who came to the governor's door, was reportedly belligerent and loudly informed first lady Nancy Schweitzer that he was dissatisfied with the job her husband was doing.

The first lady responded by slamming the door, locking it, and calling the police as the man continued to rage on her porch.

After she slammed the door shut, he beat a wind chime with a baseball bat. He was later arrested and is being held at the Lewis and Clark County Detention Center. The man was identified as Joshua W. Erickson, 20, of Helena.

...Evel Knievel picking out his tombstone.

Evel Knievel ill, readies gravestone
Associated Press

TWIN FALLS, Idaho - Evel Knievel may have finally met his match. And he's not going to clear this hurdle.

Renowned for his death-defying stunts, Knievel has now landed in major medical trouble. He says his doctors give him three to five years to live.

Knievel suffers from idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, a condition that scars the lungs, replacing the air sacs with scar tissue. As the scars form, the tissue becomes thicker, reducing the lung's ability to absorb oxygen. There is no cure.

"I feel pretty good, but there just isn't enough air on this Earth for me compared to you normal people," Knievel said.

(He's actually from Butte, but he lives in Idaho to be closer to the Snake River Canyon)

Oh yeah! You can walk right up to the Governor's "mansion". It's really just a house in a residential neighborhood a few blocks from the Capital. I've been there a few times for different functions and you just ring the doorbell and walk in. The Governor might answer the door, or one of his kids.

Being as it's Montana, I'm surprised the First Lady didn't just go get her own gun and handle the problem herself, lol...

No, that's the Alabama State Flag, St. Andrew's cross!

If Montana can't afford a professional security detail, how about a few guys take turns sitting out front in a pickup with a couple of six packs?

If that was Montana there would be busted snowmobiles in the yard, bit.

aero, I met Evel Knievel at the Highway Grill in Butte.

It was about a week or two before the Snake River Extravaganza in August-September '74.

Bobby Riggs was with Evel.

We were passin' through and heard that there would be free beer..........there was.

When Jerry Brown was governor of CA, he didn't think it was right that the taxpayers should pay for a "governor's mansion," so he just found an apartment close to work.

I remember that one recent gov in MT published his home phone number and said, hey, gimme a call if there's some issue you're concerned about.

I think he was always either at the grill or the golf course. My college roommate was from Butte and used to caddy for him. The worst part was when he'd try to jump the golf cart over the water hazards.

Ha ha.......

Butte was crazy then.
My two buddies and I were camped somewhere in the National Forest maybe ten miles east of town.

We rode into town every day and hung out at the Highway Grill waiting for the promised party to start.
It took several days before it actually happened.

According to Evel we were to "drink the town dry" in the week leading up to the canyon "jump".

The drunkfest was to begin at The Grill.
When he finally showed up, with Riggs, the beer started to flow.

Within minutes there was an inch of beer on the bar room floor.

(I might have related this story before......anyway it was a hoot)
