Car Camping Rocks!

“I'm going car camping at Cade's Cove for the 2nd time this summer over Labor Day. Will I give up a backpacking trip to take my 2 kids and wife campng to spend time with them outdoors...you betcha!”

“An air conditioner is a must have piece of gear for summer nights in the deep deep south.
90-100% humidity and nighttime lows in the 80s.”

“That's why I make sure I get a little elevation. The temp should be about 80 for a high, which is ok. There is no way I would camp in Alabama between May and Sept.”

“Okay, shortly I shall be leaving work to pack up the family vehicle and head to the nearby state park for a long weekend of car camping.

I expect to have a lot of fun and continue to introduce my kids to the outdoors in a way that still allows their mom to have a flush toilet nearby.

Unless I manage to find time to post tonight, this'll be it until Sunday at the earliest.

when i was a kid, we lived out in the sticks , i would sleep on a lawnchair recliner in my boy scout sleeping bag.”

“but my son used to love to camp in the state campgrounds at the coast when he was little - i loved seeing him enjoy himself and there were always plenty of other kids to play with in those developed campgrounds.”

“Yeah, when I was a kid I'd camp anywhere. Usually the backyard or one of my aunt and uncles backyard. I even camped on the back deck once. It was funny because as we got older and braver we'd move further away from the house and closer to the woods. We'd pile blankets, gameboys, huge air matresses, and anything else that was fun onto our fourwheelers and cart them off to the tent. Being young was a blast.”
