Maybe our families could meet up at a neutral point and enjoy a good time...” 11:30:59 AM 3/05/03 “Tom, it could be done. we are in NY your in MD. yup I smell a campfire a brewing.....” 11:33:21 AM 3/05/03 “You better watch out if Crazy Mike sees this thread. ;-)” 11:36:35 AM 3/05/03 “Yeah! We could square-off in a weenie-roastin' contest! Does the subway run to West Virginia? I know of several nice places out there(old CCC-built sites), some of which are free. Others are under ten bucks per night. Mmmmmmmm, folding chairs, extra bedding, tons of food!” 11:37:26 AM 3/05/03 He He He! ! ! “Crazy Who?” 11:38:02 AM 3/05/03 We could square-off in a weenie-roastin' contest! “well I think I will allow you and treeman to have your fun. LOL ok name the place and time. lets make it a long weekend.” 11:44:41 AM 3/05/03 “you making fun of our weenies, Maple?” 11:46:30 AM 3/05/03 “Pennsylvania would seem like a likely place, but I remember seeing "No Alcoholic Beverages" posted at Ricketts Glen............gggrrrrrrrr!!!!~%^[” 11:46:38 AM 3/05/03 “That could be a problem, Tom” 11:47:48 AM 3/05/03 “yes BIG Problem!!!!” 11:50:32 AM 3/05/03 “There is a source for excellent Italian and Polish sausage here in Baltimore. Gee, ya think NYC might have that kinda thing? There is good micro-brew beer here too! Oooooooo, I can see it now......a Battle Of The Brats And Brews!!! (that's pronounced, "brahts")” 11:51:47 AM 3/05/03 “Mmmmmm, microbrews.....” 11:54:10 AM 3/05/03 “NO FARTEX you are not going to scare the crap out of my kids by eating Polish sausage and then drinking beer and then killing them with the smell. NO NO NO ok maybe :)” 11:56:40 AM 3/05/03 “There's Laurel Fork Campground in the Monongahela NF. Its a FREE site with outhouses and tables and fire rings on the banks of Laurel Fork(big creek). It is truely the middle of nowhere and is about 240 miles from me.....I dunno.” 11:58:09 AM 3/05/03 “Don't forget to invite Ayn Rand!” 11:59:15 AM 3/05/03 “Indulge my ignorance, Tom... What state is that in?” 12:00:27 PM 3/05/03 “Only if she brings beer, Aero...” 12:01:22 PM 3/05/03 12:04:38 PM 3/05/03 opps 12:05:52 PM 3/05/03 “It must be getting closer to St. Patrick's Day. Maple's little Fartex story reminds me of that Irish joke... "Oh... YOU had it rough didjanow? There was forty of us livin' in a hole in the road and every night our father would come home and kill us with a broken bottle." "You had a father?"” 12:06:48 PM 3/05/03 “...And we had to lick the road clean with our tongues...” 12:08:33 PM 3/05/03 “Maple all of the state parks in PA have a ban on Alchol. I should know I hava a nice pink slip of paper proving it. If you want to do some awsome day hikes look into Blue Rocks Campground. It is in lenhartsville PA should be about halfway between NYC and Baltimore. Check this link There is some great hiking right out of the camp. The Pinnacle is a great overlook with cliffs and caves.” 12:17:53 PM 3/05/03 12:18:53 PM 3/05/03 “Hey Maple! Nice campsite. It says the water pump is inaccessable! What good is that? No wonder its free.” 12:23:05 PM 3/05/03 “No wonder its free." Limpy 12:23:05 PM What the heck did I do now?” 12:24:47 PM 3/05/03 “Laurel Fork would be an excellent venue. I've hiked through it but never camped there. The Laurel Fork used to be a fine beaver stream until the floods of 1985 and later flushed them out. I would enjoy meeting there. There is also a campground near Alpena along 33 that charges a scant $5 a night, but there are less than 10 sites there. Red Creek up on the Sods charges $10 a night. The meadow at Seneca Rocks has campsites at $5 a night, maybe up to $7 by now. They also offer double sites. There's the view of the rocks from the meadow. They also have showers, and the two stores are a short walk down the hill. There is an informal site along White's Run and Seneca Creek up 33 from Seneca Rocks. It's a neat place under the trees, no charge. There are more informal sites along the gravel road on Middle Mountain. No water, but if you have cars you can haul in plenty.” 12:29:51 PM 3/05/03 “Ahhhhhhhhhh, now this is my idea of car camping. ”12:33:42 PM 3/05/03 “BAN GEEZR!!!!!!!!” 12:35:25 PM 3/05/03 “That is to car camping what a condo is to a cabin in the woods.” 12:35:31 PM 3/05/03 “no banning geezr, thats my idea of car camping. sweeeeeetttttt” 12:40:34 PM 3/05/03 “If you're going to show car campin', might as well show the real thing. That's me in the middle, my uncle (Billings resident) on the left, and my brother on the right. Photo taken at Basin (?) Campground in 2000. ”12:57:57 PM 3/05/03 “Mapleleaf, that's it! It is a long way.....but real nice. later” 12:59:34 PM 3/05/03 “Cool, Marty. Looks very relaxing...” 12:59:35 PM 3/05/03 “My name is Martyb and I have car camped.” 1:00:12 PM 3/05/03 “LOL @ Marty!!!” 1:01:22 PM 3/05/03 “Yeah, I don't like them rocks in my car camping spot... what? ...huh? ...Oh, not "rocks" as in *rocks and minerals* ...oh, okay... I get it now! :-)” 1:12:32 PM 3/05/03 “Ahh, takes me back to my first date back in high school with Gina Statutory: "Honest officer, we were just car camping!"” 1:16:41 PM 3/05/03 “Car camping reminds me of going to a strip club: you may be able to look and touch, but you're still not getting the full deal.” 1:26:16 PM 3/05/03 “Laurel Fork is at about 3,100 feet in a small valley with big trees on the surrounding slopes. It started as a logging camp about 100 years ago. The trail is an old timber rail trail. In the '30s it was a CCC camp. In '96 I was there and met an old geezer who had worked there as a teenager in the '30s. Serious trout fishers mob the place at times, but it is deserted sometimes too. Again, its far away!” 1:28:33 PM 3/05/03 “Sounds good. When you planning on hooking up there? Or is it a private thing between TT and Mapleleaf?” 1:32:22 PM 3/05/03 “Yeah... I know That Story... "I was just about to set the tent pole when the blue lights came on."” 1:33:18 PM 3/05/03 “No Tilt, this is the "Car camping rocks" thread, not the "rocking car camper" thread.” 1:37:14 PM 3/05/03 “nothing is private here geo. I like the way it sonds but thats not really between MD and NY. but if its the best place to go camp then cool. yes geo you and your family must go with us. I need to see your daughter in law again. that woman was so cool. she made me laugh alot and thats always a good thing. treebeard what do you think?” 1:37:23 PM 3/05/03 “WOW thats about an 8 hour ride for treebeard and myself.” 1:43:01 PM 3/05/03 “That's the only problem. I would actually be looking more towards a 4 hour ride or something like that. Is there someplace in Maryland that we can go? That would be good for us and Geo and I assume, for you too , Tom...” 1:44:51 PM 3/05/03 “Paul and Elyce usually take their vaca the last week of August if that suits everyone else. Good time to car camp under the trees in West By God.” 1:45:14 PM 3/05/03 “There's Susquehanna State Park in Maryland. That is at the top of the Chesapeake Bay.....right between Md and NY.?????” 1:46:02 PM 3/05/03 “sounds like a great location, Tom. I don't mean to be a whiner or anything. Just don't want to spend all that time driving if possible...” 1:47:44 PM 3/05/03 “OH, okay. Why do I get the feeling that it wouldn't exactly break Artex's heart to meet some strippers who liked to camp? Even if it WAS only car camping.... LOL” 1:47:51 PM 3/05/03
