We really are only one accident away from only having "car camping" as an option...if you're lucky, even then.

Pignose Amp
I can take a Pignose Amp(powered by six AA batteries) and a beater guitar.

Sittin'in a folding chair swillin' beer and pickin' on that poor instrument really sucks!

Car camping is cool. If you forget your firewood, you can buy it from the camp hosts. Oh helll you can forget the fire completely and order pizza delivery!

Since it is IMPOSSIBLE to backpack with three little kids, car camping is the best way to go for us. Little kids don't really care where the go camping, as long as they are warm, full of good food, and have fun thing to do all day. Last year I tried a two-night trip with just one of my kids and we were both miserable. I got to carry all our gear, of course it poured buckets every night, and we froze(2*C both morning.) Not a great way to instill a love of the outdoors in a child. And car camping is something we can do as a family - two get left behind if any really long hiking is on the agenda. I figure that when they are big enough to carry more of their own gear, then backpacking will be more agreeable to them. All three are already looking forward to a summer full of camping.

I really can't leave them behind too much cause they get that pitifull momishavingfunwithoutus look. My future is definatly camping for at least this year & maybe next year too. Stratdewd---what age did you start your boys backpacking? My oldest was 6 last year, and was definatly not ready for backpacking. Hiking all day is not a problem, but carrying his bag seems to be. Funny how lugging lots of gear 6 blocks to school and back is a breeze for him (and he can do the distance at high speed too) , but stick a sleeping bag into that same backpack and he acts like I filled it with lead weights.
