Taking Things For Granted
Just another dreary day in Ohio.I have been reading the car camping pro,s and con,s and have realized how much I take for granted,I can look out my window of a night and see the stars.I have never had to ride on a subway.I seldom encounter traffic jams and if I want the woods all I have to do is go outside. I live within a 20 minute drive of thousands of acres of trails ect.I do feel for people that are stuck in cities because of jobs ect but didnt relize how lucky I have it here.I have emailed some of you that live in cities and have a little more insight on how exciting it must be to get out on a weekend or even once a month. If I go to a trailhead and see more than two cars ,I,m thinking it,s getting crowded here! Its a dreary day in Ohio, but i guess it could be alot worse! What do you take for granted?

Well i cant agree with you more. Before I started taking this nasty meds. I was getting out once a month.
1 month = day hike
1 month overnighters
1 month = day hike

you get the idea.

There are times when my children dont want to go backpacking and thats ok. If they are only willing to do a car camping, then i encourage it!! make it fun for them. they need out of this dirty city as much as I do and I see that and do what I can to teach them and make them happy.

I'm with you, markofmanynumbers.

Great to live in the "boonies"... well, at least small towns and countrysides.

Lots to be thankful for here, although superb pay may not be one. lol... But I think we like it here and figure that's a trade off.

Rocks...
Rocks. I take rocks for granite. Oh...that was granted.

Seriously, I suppose it's living within an hour and a half drive from Yosemite .

I'm not sure who this Granted fellow is, but by taking things for him, isn't that the same as stealing?
