Reminds me of one friend in an inflatable raft struggling with the oars. Finally she yelled, "I just can't ... I don't have both oars in the water!" Another friend yelled back "Don't worry, we like you anyway!"

Oh my!
Full moon over Minnesota!
That was in The Land Of Sky Blue Waters......before grey hair and chilluns.

The chilluns are much bigger now.
That was three years ago.

Maple, who wanted to go skinny dipping, does not want to see Tom's moon? What are you going to do Maple, skinny dip with a blindfold on? Jeez!

I, of course, will not be skinny dipping. No sense taking a chance of being harpooned by a land-locked whaler!

Yes folks, this is a family car camping trip, and my husband thankfully has not been reading this thread. We have to crack adult jokes only when the wee ones are out of earshot. My daughter came home yesterday saying that she couldn't be friends with someone because they were flipping the bird at other kids. In the fourth grade. They obviously have older siblings or liberal parents (Ha! starting a war before we even get there!)

Something about going to College or back to school , is the most incredible feeling.

Thanks, Mapleleaf! Yes we are college girls again. Except that I want to look like I did in college again.

I have a lot of friends who are nurses, I have had lots of good experiences with nurses (a couple of bad as well) when having babies and operations. Both my deliveries were C-section. I think that I will work long days and fewer days and then have longer stretches of days off to hike, etc. I wanted a new career where I wasn't on the computer sitting at a desk all day every day. As a nurse I will be much more active physically which will be an incentive to stay fit. Less strain on the eyes. More flexible hours (I can work nights and be home with the kids afterschool). I am more interested in medicine than I was as a young person, but I don't want to be a doctor, I don't want to do that many years of schooling at my age.

Thanks, Twinks. The courses I have to take are a little frightening, like Anatomy and Physiology (warning, class involves dissection) and Microbiology and Algebra, if I can't place out of it.
LyndyS

Im with you on the years of schooling.
my story is sad but true.

I have spent years watching Animal Plannet and going to zoo's and volunteering at these kinds of places.
(I love that staion). its silly bUt all I would think aboout was. "I want to be able to do that, or WOW I want to be able to help that eagle to fly again"

so with alot (and I mean alot) of encouragment from my family, I did it and now I will start in Sept.
Its funny, because its all i talk about anymore. It just blows my mind that I am doing it. years of not thinking I was smart enough and things like that, then to really having my dream start to come true, is just so FRIGGIN COOL!!!!!!
mapleleaf

A lot of times, it isn't how smart you are that matters, it is how much courage you have. Our vet had an assistant that didn't work out because she was fearful and hesitant to do things with the animals that were necessary, like hold them a certain way while blood was being drawn.
LyndyS
11:04:31 AM
6/18/03

that is some of the things i will be learning.
I will also have to be an inturn for about 6 months.
mapleleaf
11:08:42 AM
6/18/03

I also know that being a nurse or vet will expose us to dangerous pathogens. Now that I am older, I worry less about that risk than I did as a young person or mother of young children. More and more, I want to be able to help people who are hurt. I want to be part of disaster relief teams when my kids are less dependent on me.
LyndyS
11:08:54 AM
6/18/03

yes I worried about that stuff too.
I also wanted to volunteer to the Red Cross, but I work better with aniaml. I seem to understand them better (maybe im part whale LOL)
I worry about my alergies. I know I will need to take the shots, but it will be so worth it.
to see an animal go home or fly again, knowing that I helped him, will be the greatest feeling in the world!
what a great example you are for your girls. they must be so proud of you!!

it shows them if you want it bad enough, then go get it because it will not come to you.
