Good morning everyone. I've been out of town for a few days. Looks like this is shaping up to be a great trip!

There is an old diesel/electric submarine near the Aquarium.
I haven't toured the USS Torsk since Linus was a baby in '92.

its what ever your up to.
not really a structured(sp) kind of weekend.
mapleleaf

6/19/03

There is hiking.

The campground is not right on the river but on high ground among large hardwoods.

It is hilly and wooded with some trails.

The walk-in sites should be rather private now that the trees are leafed out.
I was there during the winter.

Speaking of "leafed out", where's miss maple?
Tom Terrific
12:19:59 PM
6/19/03

Depends. If lyra shows up there will be morning devotions and evening vespers for Her Adorableness. If not, we may go hiking if it's not raining too hard, or stand on the bank and watch Maple try to get her kayak into the river, or play volleyball, or just chill. There are some historical sites I want to see, and I may check out some rocks as well. There could be a beer glut that needs to be dealt with too. And I will probably take my grandchildren on a nature walk so they can use the explorer's kits I gave them.
Geobeet
12:20:44 PM
6/19/03

they have an area that is reserved for watching nature.

I plan on being there most of the weekend.
mapleleaf
12:22:40 PM
6/19/03

I'd think you'd get to watch plenty of "nature" just by sitting in camp and watching Geo, Treebeard, and Tom Terrific alleviate the "beer glut", lol...

Just so she doesn't leaf-out on us~~~%^]

There are some historical sites that look pretty good.

Then there are hysterical sites with such attractions as the Tarp Mahal and the Weber Limited Edition Homer Simpson Grill.

My older grandson Zack will probably be trying out the new knife I gave him for his birthday by sticking it into:

picnic tables
wooden fences
trees
tarps
shoes
plastic
his foot
a hand
his grandfather

Tom Terrific

Why not give this kid an axe as well?

He could do more damage that way
Tom Terrific
12:28:37 PM
6/19/03

I think he already has one. You have a leg that needs amputation? Zack can take care of it for you.
Geobeet
12:29:48 PM
6/19/03

Find a likely piece of wood and tell him to carve something from it. That might curb some of that "poking" instinct.
bitpusher
12:30:33 PM
6/19/03

He might hurt himself less if he pokes. I'm worried if he tries to carve something he'll end up carving parts of himself.

Seriously though, not a bad idea. He will be taking woodshop when he starts high school in the fall.

Tell her to paddle. Count how many New Yorkers notice. If it's more than a dozen, you win!
